Job description

Responsibilities:

Project Management

Lead and manage transportation-related projects from inception to completion. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify project requirements, develop implementation plans, and ensure successful execution. Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and ensure projects are delivered within timelines and budgetary constraints.

New Business Implementation

Take charge of implementing transportation solutions for new business acquisitions and expansions. Work closely with the Business Development team to understand customer requirements and design efficient transportation networks that align with DHL Supply Chain's service standards and cost objectives.

Request for Quotations (RFQs)

Support the RFQ process by analysing transportation data, preparing cost models, and collaborating with the Sales team to develop competitive and accurate transportation proposals. Participate in customer meetings and presentations to showcase DHL Supply Chain's transportation capabilities and value proposition.

Transportation Optimization

Continuously seek opportunities to enhance transportation efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Implement strategies for route optimization, load consolidation, and other initiatives that reduce transportation spend while maintaining service excellence.

Transport planning& execution

Proactively manage the planning process by forecasting the demand, taking contingency measures into account when applicable during peak periods& poor weather conditions, to ensure all daily operational activities meet customer SLAs. Guide the team with expertise on planning through finding a balance between effective utilization of the fleet and managing customer expectations.

Carrier Management

Collaborate with the Carrier Management team to develop and maintain strong partnerships with transportation providers. Monitor carrier performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with DHL Supply Chain's service level agreements and safety standards.

Compliance and Regulatory Adherence

Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations, permits, and licenses. Stay informed about changes in transportation laws and regulations, and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.

Performance Analysis and Reporting

Regularly analyse transportation data to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify areas for improvement. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for management to facilitate data-driven decision-making& continuous improvement initiatives

Team Leadership and Development

Provide guidance and support to the Transport team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture. Coach team members, conduct performance evaluations, and identify training needs to nurture talent and build a skilled and motivated team.

P&L Management

Manage Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and costs associated with relevant accounts to ensure financial targets are met.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in transportation or logistics, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

  • Proven experience in project management, vendor management, business implementation, and RFQ support.

  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, carrier management, and industry best practices.

  • Experience in reading and managing Profit & Loss (P&L) statements is advantageous.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and transport management software.

  • Analytically strong, proficient or interested in developing expertise in data analytics.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Highly motivated team player with the ability to supervise staff, manage relationships across all levels of the organization, and collaborate effectively to meet operational needs.

  • Demonstrates flexibility in accommodating work schedules and maintains high performance under pressure while fostering a positive attitude.
