[What the role is]
Development of the Visual Arts Commercial Sector: Grow NAC’s partnerships with key representative bodies of the local Visual Arts [VA] commercial sector (e.g. Art Galleries Association of Singapore), so that they become viable conduits through which the government can inject support for Singapore’s VA commercial sector.
[What you will be working on]
Injection of Strategic Government Support for Singapore’s Visual Arts Commercial Sector:
- Work closely with VA commercial sector players on projects that increase the visibility and market demand for the work of Singapore artists (e.g. the showcase of Singapore artists on international art-buying platforms such as Art SG).
- Understand the business needs, opportunities and challenges of local VA commercial sector players (e.g. the art galleries). Analyse the information gathered for trends.
- Develop key takeaways from each project that NAC completes with the VA commercial sector, to inform how NAC support for the next cycle of projects should evolve. Operationalise adjustments to the existing support mechanisms.
- Identify new partnership opportunities with the VA commercial sector for NAC’s consideration. Support development of implementation plans. Operationalise the new partnerships.
Study of the VA Industry to Inform Investment in Its Growth
- Monitor the appointed vendor in their study of the Singapore VA industry, to ensure compliance with the terms of their contract with NAC (e.g. timeliness, delivery of key specifications, etc.).
- Conduct regular check-ins with the vendor to communicate NAC’s expectations, ensuring that the vendor’s interpretation of the key specifications is consistently aligned to that of NAC’s.
- Ensure that the project is on track for meeting of key reporting milestones.
- Support analysis of the study findings, to recommend NAC’s follow-up actions.
[What we are looking for]
- Good knowledge of the Singapore Visual Arts Landscape is highly preferred
- Experience in business strategies and development would be an added advantage.
- Possess strong written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage and maintain information management systems and follow procedures to guide work and track progress ensuring team and project goals and priorities are achieved.
- Proven ability to negotiate, build sustainable relationships and work proactively with people at all levels to achieve project objectives.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to maintain a professional approach at all times in often demanding and high-pressure situations with a proven ability of working with the
- Proven ability to actively and collaboratively contribute to a high performing team which delivers outstanding results, and to constantly seek ways to improve own contribution.
- Proficiency in effectively using online systems as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
