If you have what it takes to build Singapore's digital future with us, we are looking for an Assistant Manager / Manager (Media Policy) to join the Media Policy & Content Group!

What the role is:

The Media Policy and Content (MPC) group in IMDA ensures that media content policies and regulations are updated and remain relevant with changing media consumption patterns and advances in digital tech, and reflects societal values, maintains social cohesion and upholds public interest. Broadly, the MPC group comprises the Strategic Policy & Operations Cluster and Content & Standards.

The Media Policy division within the Media Policy & Content Group plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing policies that govern the media landscape in Singapore. As part of this division, you will be at the forefront of developing and reviewing legislation, codes of practice, and regulatory policies related to online safety and media regulation. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining a balanced and responsible media environment in the rapidly evolving digital age.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement effective media policies and regulations that address the challenges of the digital era while fostering innovation and protecting public interests.

What you will be working on:

  • Develop, formulate and review legislation, codes of practice and other regulatory policies pertaining to online safety and media regulation.
  • Engage across government, industry and relevant stakeholders on online safety and media regulatory policies.
  • Provide policy advice on operationalising legislation and other regulatory policies related to online safety and media regulation.
  • Conduct public consultation and industry briefings on policy changes related to online safety and media regulation.
  • Perform research and monitor international developments in online safety and media regulation, and identify areas where intervention may be necessary.

What we are looking for:

  • Background in Communications, Social Sciences, Humanities, Information and Communication Technology or Legal Studies is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience in policy or regulatory work, who are familiar with media industry trends and challenges pertaining to online activities (e.g. social networking, streaming media, app stores etc) and who have an interest in online technology, are preferred.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with good interpersonal skills.
  • Resourceful, motivated, proactive self-starter and able to work well in teams.
