Job description

What the role is:

In this role, you will contribute mainly to the smooth and efficient management of the Heritage Institutions’ collections and exhibitions-related functions, as well as other museum planning matters.

The key responsibilities include ensuring the successful delivery of projects such as museum revamps, special exhibitions, gallery rotations, acquisitions, and collections management for the Indian Heritage Centre (IHC), Malay Heritage Centre (MHC), and Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall (SYSNMH).

Besides project managing exhibition projects, you will handle artefacts and collaborate with museum professionals like curators to determine optimal display methods. You will also be involved in spatial planning, layout design, and visitor flow management to enhance the visitor experience and engagement.

This role combines technical, hands-on tasks with strategic planning and management. If you enjoy a mix of practical and analytical work, we want you!

What you will be working on:

  • Managing exhibition projects, including scheduling, logistics, and overseeing design and fabrication processes.
  • Coordinating with curators, collections managers, conservators, project partners, and contractors to ensure timely and successful gallery and exhibition delivery.
  • Handling artefacts during installation and de-installation, ensuring proper art-handling procedures.
  • Managing collections data related to acquisitions, loans, and exhibitions within systems and databases, including logistics, agreements, receipts, stocktakes, and documentation.
  • Providing registrar support for exhibitions, gallery rotations, maintenance, and building development activities, including artefact movement, conservation, and inventory management.
  • Overseeing regular gallery maintenance, artefact conservation, lighting, security, and environmental controls.
  • Planning spatial zoning to optimize the distribution and relationship between different activities and areas.
  • Providing administrative support, including procurement, budget management, and supplies management.

What we are looking for:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a museum or heritage organization.
  • Understanding of artefact sensitivity and museum environmental requirements is a plus.
  • Highly organized, efficient, and motivated with the ability to multitask in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Experience with lighting techniques suitable for artworks.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, especially in technical drawings and installations.
  • Basic skills in CAD and 3D rendering software are advantageous.
  • An interest in history, heritage, and museums is highly desirable.

Note: All applicants will be notified of their application status within 4 weeks after the closing date.
