About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Manager / Manager to support the planning and execution of applied research initiatives aligned with the mission of the Centre for Applied Research. This role encompasses stakeholder engagement, strategic documentation, event coordination, and operational support to enable effective research activity at the Centre. The successful candidate will bring experience in reporting, budgeting, and financial oversight, along with the ability to work effectively across multifunctional teams and diverse community-facing initiatives. Strong communication skills, sound judgement, and a dynamic, people-oriented approach are essential for this role.

What You Will Be Doing
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support the planning and logistics of research events, meetings, and public engagement activities to ensure effective outreach.
  • Prepare professional presentation materials and briefing decks for internal meetings and external stakeholder engagements.
  • Engage with government agencies, funding bodies, and institutional partners to support research development, compliance, and collaborative initiatives.
  • Manage document workflows and reporting timelines to ensure quality, accuracy, and punctual reporting of research deliverables.
  • Support research tracking and project-level financial reporting to ensure alignment with grant conditions and institutional requirements.
  • Assist in procurement and financial processes in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Contribute to Centre-led strategic and ad-hoc initiatives through structured coordination and adaptive execution.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the Centre’s evolving research agenda.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field.
  • Preferably 5-8 years of relevant experience in general administration, policy documentation, finance, or stakeholder engagement across community or professional settings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) for document development and analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop structured documentation and communicate with varied audiences.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage concurrent responsibilities and shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional efforts including those involving community initiatives.
  • Adaptive, self-motivated, and solutions-oriented with strong team ethic.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute across multiple functional areas within the Centre as operational needs evolve.
  • Experience and interest in contributing towards the promotion of social good is a plus.
