The UN Global Compact Network Singapore’s (UNGCNS) mission is to advance corporate sustainability and to build a sustainable future for all. As the local chapter of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), we work closely with companies to align strategies and operations with universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption, and act to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through various platforms for multi-stakeholder engagement and collective action, we advance the stewardship of sustainable business practices and Singapore’s national agenda of becoming a regional sustainable business hub.


Position Summary

UNGCNS is seeking an energetic candidate to support the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition Singapore (CPLC SG), the emissions management arm of UNGCNS.

This position will include engaging CPLC SG Partners, facilitating learning in emissions re- duction, curating and processing data for local and regional reports, and advancing the low carbon agenda locally and regionally. It also presents a unique opportunity to participate in an exciting and growth area.

The role will suit an ambitious, curious and lateral-thinking candidate with a belief in building a better world. The successful candidate will engage Partners and stakeholders across all business sectors, and join UN Global Compact and World Bank CPLC network colleagues in advancing responsible corporate policies and practices.


Responsibilities

  • Support CPLC SG Partnership tracking, including the Carbon Emissions Recording Tool (CERT) data submissions, CERT workshop participation, conversion to GCNS membership, etc.
  • Manage and periodically improve the CERT itself, in collaboration with our IT partner.
  • Conduct training in carbon emissions management for companies and organisations using CERT, in groups and/or individual companies as needed, and facilitate CERT completion towards KPI targets.
  • Support the development of tools to support CPLC SG’s partners in GHG footprint reduction, such as additional training materials, videos, guides, etc.
  • Provide support for the verification and awarding process of national emissions recognition programmes, in partnership with government and industry stakeholders.
  • Provide thought leadership on global sustainability initiatives such as environmental and carbon legislation, renewable and efficiency incentives, and reporting programs, particularly in the area of Internal Carbon Pricing

Skills and Capacities

  • Knowledge of carbon accounting and management will be essential
  • A strong working knowledge and interest in the application of data analytical tools such as Excel and Power BI would be a significant advantage
  • A healthy curiosity and willingness to learn new things
  • Meticulous and imaginative in analysing information
  • Conscious of achieving goals within timelines
  • Aware of systems thinking and interconnectivity
  • Managing stakeholders from different industries and seniority levels

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Min 4 years of work experience
  • Tertiary level education in business, geography, and/or mechanical/chemical/civil/electrical engineering; practical experience with, and understanding of, plant machinery will be an advantage
  • A good understanding of sustainability and the SDGs, with a strong interest to learn and delve deeper into specific sustainability/environmental issues
  • Proven experience in analysing data to extract insight around engagement results, client satisfaction and understanding
  • Able to work within a small team dynamic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
