Job Description

The candidate will be engaged in security trade control compliance, business contract support, managing disputes, and compliance programs. He/she is expected to work closely with Headquarters in Kyoto on relevant Legal & Export Control topics.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead and guide Security Trade Control (Export Control) for SEA Region
  • General management of security trade control throughout the company
  • Manage concerned end-user list notifications and follow-up verification
  • Oversee export control processes in SAP, including material creation, classification, extension, and confirmation from manufacturers; and release export licenses after background checks and approvals from HQ
  • Discuss and seek approval from HQ Legal Export Control team for transactions involving specific countries or military-related organizations
  • Conduct regular training and distribute security trade control information to all employees, especially sales staff, to ensure compliance
  • Prepare and submit annual sales reports to HQ and attend global and regional export control meetings as needed
  • Manage legal-related matters
    • Review and manage contracts (NDAs, agreements, etc.)
    • Handle legal disputes
    • Manage compliance issues such as anti-trust and anti-bribery, including conducting legal training for SEA affiliates
    • Oversee Personal Data Protection responsibilities, ensuring compliance with PDPA, conducting impact assessments to identify and mitigate risks
    • Conduct legal audits
    • Manage internal rules and legal issues of affiliates
    • Serve as liaison between HQ Legal and Southeast Asia region affiliates
    • Address other compliance matters as applicable

    Requirements

    • Degree in legal, international business, supply chain management, or equivalent
    • Minimum of 5 years' experience in trade compliance
    • Experience working in law firms or as in-house legal counsel, with business contract review and management
    • Awareness of the geopolitical situation in the region
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to multi-task and self-motivate
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Ability to work independently with good time management
