Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, the incumbent will lead the operations of an Engineering Mechanics laboratory in MAE . He/she will oversee and ensure efficient administrative and technical support for academic and research activities in the laboratory, while ensuring a safe and conducive environment for stakeholders.
The duties include:
Provide administrative/technical support for faculty, research staff and students in carrying out their academic / research activities, including operation of laboratory equipment.
Support laboratory teaching classes on Engineering Mechanics, for full-time and part-time undergraduate students.
Forecast, plan and manage budget to support procurement of materials & equipment required for laboratory teaching and research projects.
Identify opportunities for continuous process improvement to develop and optimise laboratory space.
Asset management and maintaining proper records for inventory auditing.
Risk management and conduct lab audits to ensure safety standards are compliant with ISO45001.
Ensure safety & security compliance and housekeeping in the laboratories.
Perform other duties as assigned by the school.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or related discipline, with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Good knowledge on Engineering Mechanics, Signal & analytical methodology and Micro Electro-mechanical systems (MEMS).
Experience in operation of Convention ovens, Hot Press, 3D printers, Universal Testing Machine (UTM), Dynamic Signal Analyzer, etc.
Experience in management of non-ionising irradiating apparatus and setup of Dynamic Signal Analyzer.
Able to work independently and demonstrate teamwork.
Experience in procurement and budget management.
Experience and knowledge in risk management, workplace safety and health, including ISO 45001.
Experience in machining, mechanical assembly, part replacement is a plus.
Experience in Emergency Response Team is a plus.
