Job summary

The National Dental Centre Singapore is seeking a professional to lead the translation and commercialization of Oral Health Tech Innovations. This role will involve partnerships with industry stakeholders, project management of R&D initiatives, and strategic development to ensure effective adoption of innovations within the institution. Ideal candidates will possess a relevant degree and have significant experience in technology transfer and business development, ideally within a medtech context.

Job description

You will work closely with the Innovation Director, Assistant Director, and Innovation team to translate Oral Health Tech Innovation from NDCS and the National Dental Research Institute Singapore (NDRIS) and build R&D partnerships with industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Translation and Business Development:

    • Develop and expand the translation and commercialization prospects of Oral Health Tech Innovation.

    • Conduct technology scans and follow trends to identify cutting-edge and emerging technologies.

    • Advise researchers and clinicians on translation pathways and strategies for their research, including potential spinoffs.

    • Apply for translation grants to scale technologies for market readiness.

    • Engage with institutional and industrial contacts to facilitate communication, track progress, and identify opportunities for relationship enhancement.

  • Commercial Applications and Partnerships:

    • Develop potential commercial applications and attract business partners for test-bedding, co-development and out-licensing Oral HealthTech Innovation

    • Involve in the structuring and negotiating term sheets and licenses for out-licensing of Oral HealthTech Innovation with external parties; and liaising with SingHealth IP Office on IP Management

    • Structure the collaboration agreements between NDCS/NDRIS and the external collaborator, and liaising with SingHealth Legal office on contract drafting and revision

    • Overseeing internal diligence procedures prior to agreement signing

  • Scientific and Industrial Partnerships:

    • Develop new scientific and industrial partnerships, strategic joint ventures or startups for Oral HealthTech Innovation

    • Assists in the preparation of business plans for spin-off and proposals for co-development and test-bedding partnerships

    • Prepare technology offers, presentation and marketing materials for professional meetings, seminars, conferences, and trade shows. Follow-up on post-meetings or events to scope and coordinate the actionable items

    • Outreach to industry, government agencies and research institutions/universities, both locally and internationally, to promote NDCS/NDRIS research expertise for partnership

  • Institutional Innovation Adoption:

    • Develop and implement strategies for adopting and integrating innovation within National Dental Centre Singapore.

    • Identify and navigate to innovation adoption, fostering an environment conducive to change and continuous improvement.

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to align innovation strategies with institutional goals and objectives.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. software engineering or computer science related to life-science is preferred.

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ working experience in relevant technology assessment, business development; Technology transfer or commercialization experience in a medtech or startup environment is preferred.

  • Deep understanding and knowledge of medical technology innovation, translation and commercialisation.

  • Strong project management experience is required.

  • Strong experience in dealing with difficult corporate partners and in negotiating complex deal structures and agreement for industrial collaborations.
