A leading company in the marine industry is seeking a Department Head/Manager for the Hull Department. The role encompasses overseeing operational and technical work, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards. Candidates should possess a Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering and have 5-8 years of relevant experience, particularly in the marine sector.

Job description:

Take charge of the Hull Department and oversee operational and technical work. Processes to ensure smooth execution of projects and complete on time within the budget. Able to show great leadership quality in order to control Productivity, Safety and Quality toward the departments. Department Head/Manager will be assigned one or more department to manage on productivity, Quality and safety. They will also plan and execute manpower deployment for the whole hull department during high or low peak period.

Responsibilities:

Productivity:

  • Deploy and assign projects to his supervisors
  • Set productivity targets for his department
  • Evaluate and assess staff work performance under his charge as per required
  • Assess on-board or in-workshop work progress, verify against reported work progress
  • Plan department man power projections, and highlights shortfall or spare resources
  • Assess and identify training needs for his subordinates
  • Manage departmental staff recruitment, contract renewal and periodic appraisal

Quality:

  • Manage departmental improvement processes to improve quality of work

Safety:

  • Monitor and review departmental BBS and hazard reporting program
  • Implement divisional and departmental safety work plan
  • Perform safety audits on departmental safety practices and employees
  • Develop accident prevention program for department

Co-ordination:

  • The co-ordination between Hulls in order to maintain Productivity and quality standard.
  • Able to co-ordinate to other trades on work matters.
  • On peak /critical period /major project they need to involve and attend VSCC ,Customer meeting (Progress & quality etc)

Requirement

  • Degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering
  • Preferably 5 - 8 years of working experiences in marine industry or similar capacity
  • Process SRM (Ship Repair Manager) certificate
  • Knowledge of class requirements/building strategies etc
  • Good knowledge and exposure of shipbuilding methods and construction
  • Experience in improving department productivity.

  • Location: Benoi Road (Island-wide transport provided)
  • 5 days work week
