Qualifications

  • 5 years experience for Degree holders, 10 years for Diploma holders in relevant fields.
  • Accreditation as Certified Practicing Horticulturist or ISA certified Arborist is advantageous.

Job description

Mandai Wildlife Group is the steward of Mandai Wildlife Reserve, a unique wildlife and nature destination in Singapore that is home to world-renown wildlife parks which connect visitors to the fascinating world of wildlife. The Group is driving an exciting rejuvenation plan at Mandai Wildlife Reserve, adjacent to Singapore’s Central Catchment Nature Reserve, that will integrate five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist Assistant Vice President and Manager to oversee horticulture operations ensuring the desired landscape design intent for the park is met.
  • Provide guidance to Horticulture Officer to achieve quality and timely completion of work tasks.
  • Support in Transition Planning and Ranger & Process Champion with Development Team for Rainforest Wild Asia in collaboration with HR and Animal Care Team.
  • Coordinate with the Development Team and its landscape contractor/ consultant for DLP management, including involvement in routine joint inspection, defects identification and registry preparing for smooth hand over / take over.
  • Manage, supervise, inspect the ground daily and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including other departments and term contractors to ensure contract specifications are achieved with timeliness and quality outcome.
  • Responsible to strategize and present proposals for landscape enhancements, upgrading/ development work, and conservation initiatives at various platforms including tabletop and site meetings with various stakeholders, as and when required.
  • Conduct design review of proposals for existing exhibits, aviaries, front and back of house areas for cost analysis and lifecycle cost evaluation.
  • Analyze expenditure and propose budget for fiscal year, work plan, and explore digitization initiatives to improve productivity and innovation.
  • Guide the contractor’s work for productivity and observe, record & analyze productivity improvement.
  • Initiate and prepare necessary work requests, such as working with Procurement Department to call for quotations and tenders with justification of cost benefit analysis within allocated budget and recommend for the contract award, etc.
  • Prepare PowerPoint for presentation in meetings.
  • Any ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum recognized Degree or Diploma with Plant Science, Botany, Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Forestry Science, Environmental Science / Management, or its equivalent.
  • At least 5 years local relevant experience for Degree holders and 10 years for Diploma holders.
  • Accredited as Certified Practicing Horticulturist or ISA certified Arborist will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge application in SESAMi and SAP will also be an added advantage.
  • Good command of written and spoken English.
  • Effective communication & negotiation with various stakeholders for coordination of work to achieve a common goal.
  • Proactive, independent and able to work in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to plan ahead with good sense of urgency and ownership responsibility.
  • Meet the deadline within a tight schedule for implementation of project / assignment by taking ownership by standing supervision.
  • Able to work during PH and weekends on a rotation basis.
