Sephora Singapore is seeking an Assistant Manager, Financial Control for a 1-year contract. You will own day-to-day accounting, ensure timely reporting and maintain strong internal controls in a Shared Services environment.

You will work closely with auditors, regional stakeholders and the SSC to drive month-end and year-end closing and statutory filings. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance (CA/CPA/ACCA advantageous) and at least 5 years of relevant experience in

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • CA/CPA/ACCA qualification would be advantageous.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial reporting, statutory audit support and financial control.
  • Hands-on experience in month-end and year-end closing and preparation/review of financial statements.
  • Good knowledge of Singapore statutory reporting, tax compliance and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in internal controls, risk assessment, audit coordination and control remediation.
  • Strong analytical, cost control and variance-analysis skills for business decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day accounting and financial control activities for Sephora Singapore.
  • Lead month-end and year-end closing, balance sheet review, P&L analysis and accruals.
  • Coordinate preparation of group financial reports, statutory financial statements and regulatory reports.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, documentation standards and approval processes.
  • Manage finance queries with stakeholders and support operational finance requirements.
  • Oversee audits, tax filings, and coordination with external advisors.

Assistant Manager, Financial Control (1-Year Contract)

The Assistant Manager, Financial Control is the day-to-day financial control owner for Sephora Singapore, responsible for ensuring accurate accounting, timely financial reporting, strong internal controls and compliance with statutory, regulatory and group requirements.

Working closely with business teams, Shared Service Centre, auditors, external advisors and regional finance stakeholders, the role leads month-end and year-end closing activities, supports audit and compliance processes, resolves operational finance matters and helps maintain a robust control environment that enables the business to operate effectively and support growth.

Accounting, Reporting and Financial Control

  • Owning day-to-day accounting and financial control activities for Sephora Singapore, ensuring transactions, journals, reconciliations and reporting outputs are complete, accurate, properly supported and aligned with group requirements
  • Managing month-end and year-end closing activities including balance sheet review, P&L analysis, accruals, provisions, reclasses and resolution of closing issues with Shared Services and relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinating the preparation and submission of group financial reports, statutory financial statements, regulatory reports and supporting schedules, ensuring timelines, quality standards and documentation requirements are met
  • Reviewing accounting treatment for key transactions, leases, accruals, provisions, intercompany items and other financial matters, escalating judgmental or material topics for alignment

Daily Finance Operations and Stakeholder Support

  • Managing day-to-day finance operations with the Shared Services team, ensuring timely and accurate transaction processing, effective issue resolution, clear documentation and appropriate escalation of operational risks
  • Partnering with business stakeholders to resolve finance queries, explain financial processes and support timely completion of operational finance requirements
  • Managing finance matters relating to lease agreements, including bank guarantees, stamp duties, landlord requirements and supporting documentation

Audit, Internal Controls, and Tax Compliance

  • Leading statutory audit activities, including audit planning, preparation of supporting schedules, management responses and timely resolution of audit matters
  • Maintaining a strong internal control environment by ensuring key controls, reconciliations, documentation standards and approval processes operate effectively across the business
  • Coordinating internal control reviews, compliance testing and internal audit activities, partnering with stakeholders and Shared Services to address findings, strengthen processes and track remediation actions to closure
  • Coordinating corporate tax, GST and other statutory filings with external advisors and internal stakeholders, ensuring submissions are accurate, supported and completed on time
  • Monitoring relevant tax and regulatory developments, assessing implications for finance processes and reporting, and implementing actions to maintain compliance and mitigate risk

Cost Control and Adhoc Projects

  • Supporting budget, forecast and cost-control processes by preparing analysis, tracking expenses and helping the business operate within approved budgets
  • Supporting ad hoc finance projects and process-improvement initiatives

  • Hands‑on experience in month‑end and year‑end closing and the preparation and review of financial statements
  • Good knowledge of Singapore statutory reporting, tax compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in internal controls, risk assessment, audit coordination, process documentation and control remediation
  • Strong financial analysis, cost control and variance‑analysis skills, with the ability to explain key movements clearly and support practical business decisions
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver within tight timelines
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with SAP and a Shared Service environment would be an advantage
