Purpose
We are seeking an Assistant Manager, Shipping & Logistics to join our team. This full-time role will be responsible for leading our shipping & logistics teams, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
Main responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the shipping & logistics team and to oversee all functions related to freight, transportation for all Inbound and Outbound shipments.
- Handle import, export, or transhipment shipments for both Airfreight and Sea freight Shipment.
- Prepare scheduling for all local trucking and working with Logistics Service Providers on necessary arrangements.
- Ensure professional and timely preparations of shipping documents for arrival and despatch of cargo.
- Communicating and coordinating effectively with clients on all shipping & logistics matter
- Review and Streamline work processes for better efficiency and productivity
- Liaise with internal department and external vendors and clients about shipment schedule
- Generate reports for strategic analysis and operations productivity performance.
- Manage and optimize department resources based on functional needs.
- Maintain a resilience workforce in the operations by learning and development.
- Assigns tasks to support the operations sections and other departments
- Assist to secure new customers and revenue streams by securing leads and opportunities for the sales department
- Ensure department conformance with quality standards including ISO
- Manage and coordinate the Inbound & Outbound requests.
- Take lead and work with the shipping team on all RFQ for Inbound & Outbound shipments by communicating and working closely with the internal departments.
- Responsible for the tracking and monitoring of all shipments.
- Coordinate and responsible for Logistics arrangement necessary to support shipment (E.g. Certificate of Origin, Fumigation, Seal, DG Cargo, POD etc.) which include permits for Major Exporter Scheme.
- Lead and assist the shipping team on shipment arrangements.
- Lead and assist the shipping team in Import and Export billing received from Logistics Service Providers.
- Lead and assist team on Storage Charges to customers in a timely manner.
- Support 3PL consignment’s Logistics support.
- Responsible for all Logistics records filing.
Manage People and Organizational Function:
- Provide leadership, inspiration, coaching and development to team members to achieve engagement and drive business results.
- Manage department budgeting, and cost controls to meeting financial targets through effective resources management value optimization.
- Foster a value-based culture and a culture of accountability in the organisation. Lead high-performing teams, attract, and retain talent, provide mentorship and guidance to management.
- Motivate people and implement the procurement and planning specific competency assessment model for use in training and development strategies and align to the company’s succession plan and learning initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by your manager from time-to-time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics & Supply Chain, Business, or related field/ discipline
- Working knowledge of SAP system, SAP implementation process experience preferred
- Project Management

- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in Freight, Shipping or Logistics in a medium-sized global organization
- Ability to make operational decisions balanced with longer-term strategic thinking
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on understanding metrics/analytical data.
- Strong communication and customer service skills and experience partnering in a global cross-departmental role.
- Leading, coaching, developing and motivating a global team-Setting team goals, measuring success and communicating achievements
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Resilient and calm under pressure with an adaptable and flexible approach
- Proficient in using logistics software and technologies
- User of SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) for more than 5 years (Handles sales order processing, shipping, and invoicing etc.).
- Knowledge in Trade Net application prefer.
