Your Day to Day

As Assistant IT Manager you are required to ensure Hotel’s computers are properly installed, working efficiently and that system security measures are in place. You will also install new systems as required to improve hotel efficiency, always follow standards and guidelines and make sure hotel teams have the tools and resources they need to work well.

  • Manages and monitors the operation of all computer hardware, ensures all systems are working and installed properly, and serves as the primary contact for servicing the computer hardware for both guests and colleagues
  • Ensures that all systems are covered by the proper maintenance contracts and that preventive maintenance is performed as required
  • Continually keeps informed of systems and technology that may contribute to improve hotel efficiency, including, but not limited to:
  • Computer Hardware systems and devices including PC LAN technology, Software operating and utility systems, Front Office and Accounts Receivable Property Management Systems, Interfaces to and from Opera, Back Office Accounting Systems, PC and LAN based Office Automation products, Point Of Sale Systems, Guest and Administration Voicemail, Call Accounting, PABX systems, Cabling, Hub / Switch Management Systems, Computer Virus protection, Hotel IT Security and Firewalls
  • Process daily back-up and monthly back up for F&B modules and Sun Financial System
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all computer hardware
  • Manages the configuration reports, job control languages, program files and data files on the computer system(s) to ensure maximum operating efficiency
  • Monitors the performance of the software and maintains a log book of performance report ; through systems measurement facility/utility, error and integrity check reports, system malfunction and solutions
  • Installs and tests corporate approved program changes to the hotel computer system(s)
  • Understand all standard and customized features and functions of hotel front office system, point of sale system, and call accounting system, including, but not limited to system security, system reports, manager functions, system utilities and user functions
  • Establishes documents, test and communicates appropriate disaster recovery emergency procedures to follow when the hotel computer system(s) are inoperable
  • Controls the key/lock for computer room and ensures that the computer room fire protection, temperature control, and power requirements meet the IHG security specification
  • Administer all user accesses and the most sensitive system utilities, secures all resources and critical libraries
  • Maintains technical and user documentation, systems reports, newsletters and announcements in a neat, orderly and secure fashion
  • Completes and distributes activity reports, program trouble reports, and enhancement list
  • Be updated on the latest, updated, changes, enhancement, and development in the hotel computer field by subscribing to periodicals and attending seminars, workshops or conferences held by IHG, computer companies or vendors
  • Performs basic changes to programs control languages using screen edit utilities, operating control languages statements and screen design aids
  • Audit hotel systems, security and emergency procedures according to the Hotel and Financial Performs various special projects as requested and assigned by management
  • System Security Manuals and materials supplied by the Regional Manager of IT
  • Follows-up on all outstanding points from the latest EDP audit of his/her hotel
  • Serves as the primary associate with all computer-related outside vendors

What We Need From You

  • Diploma or Degree in Computer Science/Technology or Information System or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in similiar capacity.
  • Demonstrate commitment, optimism and determination to deliver brands standard and guest experience consistently.
  • Lead by setting clear direction and focuses the team on evolving priorities.
  • Drawing on emerging industry, market and competitor knowledge trends to benchmark and shape business plans.
  • Enthusiastic and a sense of accountability in others to deliver great performance.
