Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting background, hands-on experience in managing a full set of accounts, and familiarity with SAGE Accounting System. Candidates with prior experience in the charity or non-profit sector will be highly regarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full Set of Accounts: Manage the full spectrum of accounting, including monthly closings and financial reporting.

  • Order Confirmation & Invoicing: Handle internal queries, resolve invoicing and GST-related issues.

  • Accounts Receivable (AR): Coordinate with AR Executive, validate receipts, issue DN/CN, and reconcile with bank statements.

  • Accounts Payable (AP): Work with AP Executive to verify and post expenses; prepare POs for purchases over $500.

  • Fixed Assets: Maintain asset register and ensure accurate monthly depreciation entries.

  • Inventory: Conduct quarterly and year-end stock takes; manage transfers and write-offs.

  • Journals & GL: Record journals (accruals, prepayments, depreciation) and manage general ledger including COA.

  • GST Compliance: Verify input/output tax and prepare quarterly GST filings.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly income statements, balance sheets, and department/program reports by the 10th.

  • SAGE Accounting System: Maintain accounting modules (AR/AP/GL/Inventory), generate reports, and export data for analysis.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, CAS, GST regulations, and reporting standards.

  • Skilled in bank reconciliations, financial statement preparation, fixed assets, and journal entries.

  • Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Able to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and ensure reporting accuracy.

  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Attributes: High integrity, self-motivated, able to work independently and manage multiple priorities and a team player.

Requirements

  • Education: Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent (e.g., ACCA).

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, including full set of accounts.

  • Preferred Background: Experience in a charity or non-profit setting; familiarity with fund accounting and donor reporting is an advantage.

  • System Knowledge: Proficient in SAGE Accounting System (AR, AP, GL, Inventory).
