Job summary

Lam Research is hiring an Assistant Field Service Engineer to install, relocate and commission complex equipment at customer sites in a hybrid work model in Singapore. You will perform startup and check-out activities, minimize downtime, and troubleshoot issues to keep machines running smoothly.

The role requires a Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field, with strong English communication, analytical problem-solving, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering required.
• Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manual.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Strong foundational analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Install and relocate Lam’s electro-mechanical systems at customer sites, including start-up and check-out activities.
• Minimize downtime with on-site preventive maintenance and prompt handling of abnormalities.
• Troubleshoot to isolate issues to component level and take corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Provide clear pass-down information to stakeholders to ensure continuity of support operations.
• Maintain Lam equipment and tools in good working condition and support ad-hoc duties as needed.

The group you’ll be a part ofThe Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.The impact you’ll makeAs an Assistant Field Service Engineer at Lam, you will ensure operational excellence at customer sites by delivering quality technical assistance and solutions to customer needs. This will include supporting hardware-related equipment installation, subsystem calibration, and maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance and operational effectiveness at customer sites, as well as driving troubleshooting action items to ensure timely resolution of equipment issues and swift recovery of machine operations.What you’ll doInstallation and/or relocation of Lam’s complex electro-mechanical and electronic systems equipment at customers’ sites and conduct associated start-up, cutover and check-out activities on the newly installed systemsMinimize machine downtime or system interruptions performing on-site preventive maintenance of equipment and attending to equipment abnormalities.Utilize analytical problem-solving methodology to eliminate equipment malfunctions, isolate issues to the component level, and take corrective actions to minimize downtime, system interruptions, and equipment malfunctions.Provide clear and comprehensive pass-down information to relevant stakeholders, ensuring effective follow-up on machine status and continuity of customer support operations.Provide hardware support for Tier 2 process qualification activities.Keep up to date on semiconductor capital equipment and Lam products through learning, training, and certification.Maintain company’s assigned equipment (computer, tool kit, diagnostic test equipment, spare parts, etc.) in good working condition, and ensure it is secure and accounted forTake on ad-hoc duties as and when assigned by the Immediate SupervisorWho we’re looking forDiploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related Engineering disciplineRecent graduates from Local Polytechnics are welcome to apply (Singapore Polytechnic / Ngee Ann Polytechnic / Republic Polytechnic / Nanyang Polytechnic & Temasek Polytechnic)Able to work in a clean room environment while wearing personal protective safety equipment, or cleanroom suitFrequently position oneself (e.g., bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat, kneel, climb, stand) to perform job tasks for extended periods.Able to travel frequently, domestically and internationally, based on customer needs and for training, flexibility to work a variety shifts including compressed and alternative workweeks including overtime if needed (~10%)Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software including Microsoft Office SuiteCommunication skills, both written and verbal, in EnglishFoundational analytical and problem-solving skillsProficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, and operation manualPreferred qualificationsOur commitmentWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
