Assistant Engineering Manager

What the role is

The Carbon Mitigation Division administers the Energy Conservation Act and the Carbon Pricing Act to mitigate greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions from the industrial and household sectors. For this role, you will join NEA as a member of a team within the Industry Regulation 1 Department (IR1D) of the Carbon Mitigation Division that administers regulatory requirements to promote energy efficiency and reduce GHG emissions in the industrial sector. Your work will be technical in nature and will involve liaising closely with industrial facilities to ensure their compliance to regulatory requirements. Your job will involve both desk-bound work and on-site inspections of industrial facilities.

What you will be working on

You will be responsible for the following:

1. Verify the accuracy of energy use and GHG emissions reports submitted by industrial facilities
2. Plan and conduct field inspections to assess compliance with regulatory requirements
3. Document findings after each inspection and follow up with industrial facilities to address compliance issues
4. Analyse energy performance and GHG emissions trends of industrial facilities and present findings to companies’ management
5. Share best practices to improve energy efficiency and reduce GHG emissions with industrial facilities
6. Liaise with industrial facilities to address queries, and assist them in the submission process for regulatory requirements

What we are looking for

1. Diploma in Chemical/Environmental/Mechanical Engineering
2. At least 10 years of working experience in an industrial plant or a regulatory enforcement role
3. Prior working experience in implementing energy management systems or energy efficiency improvement/carbon mitigation projects would be advantageous
4. Highly self-motivated, independent, and resourceful
5. Meticulous with an eye for detail
6. Organised and able to multi-task
7. Good team player and strong interpersonal communication skills
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
