Job summary

SMRT TEL PTE. LTD. seeks an experienced Technical Officer to oversee maintenance tasks for railway systems, ensuring safe operation of equipment and adherence to procedures.

You will perform planned and corrective maintenance, monitor performance, and coordinate with external parties while maintaining detailed reports and training new staff.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as Technical Officer or equivalent in related field; railway system experience advantageous.
  • Candidate with railway communication experience or maintenance/troubleshooting background is a plus.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to work in a team or independently.
  • Able to work rotating shifts including night shifts during non-passenger hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operate measuring, test equipment, instruments and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Comply with Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions and change instructions.
  • Ensure safety at all times in accordance with Safety Procedures.
  • Carry out SPIC, PIC and PM duties and responsibilities.
  • Plan scheduled PM work and perform timely CM; ensure work orders are completed promptly.
  • Monitor equipment performance and follow up as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating work by external parties including LTA, MHA and contractors.
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to new staff.
  • Cover duties of other Assistant Engineers when needed.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • To operate measuring, test equipment, instruments and tools safely and efficiently.
  • To perform tasks in compliance with relevant procedures and instructions contained in Quality Procedures, Work Specifications, Work Instructions and any relevant change instructions disseminated.
  • To comply with and exercise safety at all times in accordance with all Safety Procedures.
  • To be responsible for the safety of self, peers at workplace; off and on trackside throughout working period.
  • To carry-out the role of SPIC, PIC and PM duties and responsibilities.
  • To complete the necessary reports for the task at hand.
  • To plan scheduled PM work and perform timely CM.
  • To ensure maintenance work orders are completed promptly.
  • To carry out day-to-day monitoring of equipment performance and follow up where appropriate.
  • To ensure authorized access to Communication and Control Equipment Rooms and Installation.
  • To assist EMM in managing and controlling maintenance spares.
  • To ensure good housekeeping in the workplace.
  • To respond to emergency recall after duty hours or for overtime work.
  • To assist in the co-ordination work done by external parties including LTA, MHA and contractors.
  • To provide guidance and on-the-job training to new staff.
  • To conduct or assist with the systems training of new staff.
  • To cover the duties of another Assistant Engineer in his absence as needed.
  • To carry out any duty as assigned and directed by supervisors.
Qualifications & Work Experience
  • Diploma in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience as Technical Officer or equivalent in related field, previous Railway System or related qualifications and/or working experience would be advantageous.
  • Candidate with previous railway communication experience, or working experience in maintenance and troubleshooting will have an added advantage.
  • Candidate with good troubleshooting and communication skills would be advantageous.
  • Candidate must be able to work in a team or independently.
  • Candidate with strong safety awareness is preferred.
  • Candidate must be committed to perform rotating shift duties inclusive of night shift during non-passenger service hours.
  • Candidate with a valid Class 3 driving license would be advantageous.
