Job description
What the role is:

You will be part of a team to formulate strategies and policies to drive efforts towards achieving MINDEF/SAF environmental sustainability goals, working in close partnership with sustainability teams in SAF and DSTA to ensure tight policy-operations interface.

What you will be working on:
  • Formulate and review policies, strategies and roadmap for environmental sustainability, in line with national developments and Whole-of-Government (WoG) efforts.
  • Monitor and review MINDEF/SAF’s environmental sustainability plans, initiatives and efforts; including reporting to GreenGov.SG Secretariat/Ministry of Sustainability and Environment (MSE).
  • Undertake secretariat role for the External Advisory Panel for Environmental Sustainability, leveraging on the knowledge of subject matter experts to support MINDEF/SAF sustainability efforts.
  • Explore collaborative opportunities with industry to learn and apply emerging technologies and innovative solutions to support sustainability efforts in MINDEF/SAF.
  • Network with whole-of-government agencies and industry to stay current on decarbonisation, energy efficiency, water efficiency and waste management initiatives.
Challenge(s)
  • Applying analytical and strategic thinking to understand global and national environmental sustainability trends and formulate impactful policies that position MINDEF as responsible and progressive while maintaining mission readiness.
  • Harmonising considerations of different internal and external stakeholders across defence ecosystem and WoG agencies with potentially opposing needs to inspire collective action and strengthen sustainability policies.
