Job description

What the role is:

The Strategy and Women’s Development Division (SWD) is the national focal point on gender matters in Singapore. A key mandate for SWD is to strengthen the eco-system for women’s development and represent Singapore on women’s matters internationally.As part of the Strategy and Research team, you will be part of the Strategy and Women’s Development Division in the Family and Child Development Policy Directorate. You will join a team that conducts family research to inform evidence-based policies, formulates and reviews family-related policies, drives the strategic planning process of MSF’s Family Cluster as well as leads in the organisation of MSF’s flagship biennial Asian Family Conference.

What you will be working on:

• Identify and study emerging trends and assess their impact on families;• Conceptualise, implement and drive family-related research and evaluation projects;• Analyse and report research and evaluation findings as well as identify their implications for policy and programmes;• Formulate and review effective policies with other agencies to address potential gaps to support various types of families;• Support the strategic planning process for the Directorate; and• Lead in the planning and organising of the biennial Asian Family Conference.• Supervisory duties where you are expected to oversee junior officers in the team.

What we are looking for:

• Relevant qualification e.g., psychology, economics, sociology, business analytics, statistics or related disciplines with strong quantitative skills• At least 3 years of supervisory experience• Ability to lead projects independently and as part of a team• Ability to analyse issues critically and laterally from a strategic perspective• A good grasp of quantitative and qualitative research methods and data analysis techniques• Strong analytical, writing, communication and presentation skills• Ability to interact and collaborate with stakeholders• Ability to multi-task and work under pressure• Prior experience in policy work or strategic planning, and in conducting research and/or evaluation of social programmes or family research, would be an advantage• Proficiency in statistical analysis software such as SPSS, STATA, R.
