Assistant Director/ Senior Assistant Director, Tech-Biz Development, A*StartCentral, VCG, I&E

The Venture Creation & Growth ("VCG") of Innovation and Enterprise Division of A*STAR is responsible for venture building deep-tech startups. A*StartCentral (ASC) is A*STAR's open innovation platform with an incubation centre and venture building programmes. ASC is seeking a Programme Architect to lead and drive entrepreneurship and market access programmes for deep-tech startups, cultivating and growing the community.

The objective is to attract and prepare founders for deep-tech venture creation and spinoff, accelerating the growth of deep-tech startups.

Key Results

  • Develop and drive programmes that prepare deep-tech entrepreneurial talents, form deep-tech startups, and facilitate go-to-market and growth, including overseas expansion with consideration to supply chain, accreditation, and investment.

  • Establish alliances and partnerships that facilitate deep-tech startups' market access.

  • Review and fine-tune existing programmes and develop new ones as necessary.

  • Track programmes' budget, outcomes, and outputs, including identifying entrepreneurial talents and partners.

  • Support incubation centre management, including facilities, safety, community, and tenancy outreach and management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Science, or relevant fields; a relevant Master's degree is an advantage.

  • Prior experience and a track record in developing and project managing deep-tech venture building programmes with clear learning outcomes is mandatory.

  • Able to lead and manage a team to deliver key results for venture building programmes.

  • At least 8 years of experience in incubation and entrepreneurship programme management for deep-tech, including corporate innovation, ideation, startup incubation, or business acceleration and internationalisation.

  • Ability to navigate the innovation & enterprise ecosystem to cultivate community and collaboration, including founders, mentors, institutes of higher learning, IEOs, government agencies, and service providers.

  • A team player with the ability to handle ambiguity and traverse various industry verticals.

  • A self-starter, independent and resourceful with excellent time management skills, able to multi-task and prioritise work while being meticulous and organised.

  • Preference for individuals with founding and operational experience in tech startups, who have raised funds, managed, and grown teams, to appreciate the mindset and aptitude required for deep-tech entrepreneurship.
