Job description

What the role is:

Purpose of Job:

You will be part of a cross-divisional project team responsible for preparing, planning and enabling the implementation of the Food Safety and Security Act (FSSA).

This position requires the job applicant to be proactive, highly organised and detail-oriented as he/she supports a high-priority, multi-year project involving multiple divisions and stakeholders. The role is essential to ensuring the project stays on track, meetings are well-coordinated and progress is clearly documented and communicated.

What you will be working on:

Duties:

1. Member of both secretariat teams supporting FSSA implementation (namely the “Project New Dawn” and “Project Orris” teams) responsible for

a) coordinating and managing project timelines/schedules and administrative tasks across various divisions.

b) organising and facilitating regular meetings, including agenda planning, scheduling of meetings, booking venues or virtual links and circulating materials.

c) recording, preparing and circulating accurate and timely meeting minutes

d) following up with relevant parties to track progress against assigned tasks

e) support the project teams in preparing presentations, progress reports and other documentation for senior management

f) maintaining organised documentation to support transparency and accountability

2. Work on the following RSVO-led FSSA subsidiary legislation (SL):

a) SL on food safety standards and food labelling requirements (tentative deadline: mid 2026)

b) SL on food advertising (tentative deadline: mid 2026)

c) SL on food safety standards for regulated food contact articles (tentative deadline: mid 2027)

Duties include studying the existing requirements and industry practice, formulating new requirements, engaging stakeholders (both internal and external), and working with other divisions and agencies to ensure smooth implementation.

About Singapore Food Agency

The Singapore Food Agency (SFA) is a new Statutory Board formed under the ‘Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) to oversee food safety and security. The SFA will serve as the single point of contact for public feedback on food-related issues, and strengthen management of foodborne disease outbreaks to protect public health.The SFA will also facilitate more business-friendly regulations with oversight of all food safety policies and consolidation of food laboratory capabilities to deepen competencies in food diagnostics, and research and development in food safety.
