Job description

The Assistant Director/Deputy Director, Community Engagement and Partnerships (CEP) will partner and support the Head of CEP in overseeing the Donor Engagement and Volunteer Engagement Teams, (‘the Teams’) to support the Organisation’s goals. The Assistant Director/Deputy Director is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations of the two teams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the department Head in strategic planning and budgeting in support of the Organisation’s goals and service strategy, particularly in relation to donor and volunteer engagement

  • Support the department in the implementation of any new fundraising and support initiatives in positioning the department for growth

  • Cultivate strong relationships with key supporters to secure and expand funding sources

  • Work with service centres to develop and refine stewardship strategies for different supporter segments, enhancing supporter engagement and fostering greater alignment and connection of supporters to our causes

  • Gather feedback from supporters to better understand their interests, preferences and motivations, using this information to improve stewardship strategies

  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for the Teams’ performance and growth

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders on impact reporting to collect and analyse data on the impact of donor and volunteer support, translating information into compelling narratives that effectively communicate the impact of philanthropy on the organisation

  • Responsible for the department’s smooth day-to-day operations in engagement of supporters, management of the 1000E and 1000P programmes, as well as new programmes developed to cultivate new supporters.

  • Identify best practices and continually improve SOPs, promoting a culture of professional excellence

  • Represent the organisation at relevant conferences, networking events, meetings etc as needed

  • Prepare strategic reports and insights in relation to donor engagement and consolidate inputs from the other teams in CEP for the Board, Standing Committee and management to track performance and identify trends, gaps and opportunities to position the department for success.

  • Assist the Head with resource management, including charting the professional development and performance management of talents within the Teams

Competencies, qualifications and requirements:

  • Minimum degree holder with at least 8 years of experience in managerial position, preferably in events/marketing/business development and a proven track record in team management

  • Analytical and decisive decision maker with the ability to prioritize while managing multiple projects and tasks

  • Proven track record of delivering high performing events

  • Strong leadership and team management skills

  • Ability to work well with diverse group of internal and external stakeholders

  • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage to engage Chinese-speaking donors and volunteers.

  • Self-starter, highly organised, meticulous, enthusiastic and passionate team player
