Job Purpose:

The Assistant Design Manager supports the Design Manager and senior leadership in delivering design projects on schedule and within scope. This role involves managing design workflows, liaising with consultants, and coordinating with project and construction teams to ensure design accuracy and constructability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing the preparation and submission of design documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with consultants and contractors to ensure design requirements are fully understood and implemented.
  • Track design progress and update project schedules to reflect design milestones and delivery deadlines.
  • Review and comment on design changes, variations, and technical queries, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Participate in site inspections and meetings to understand design execution challenges and suggest solutions.
  • Ensure that design activities comply with statutory requirements and company policies.
  • Support the implementation of BIM processes and ensure model updates and coordination are maintained.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to align design deliverables with material orders and construction sequences.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of design revisions, approvals, and correspondence.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior design staff.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in design management or coordination within construction projects.
  • Goodunderstanding of local building codes, authority submission processes, and design software.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience working with BIM technologies is an advantage.
