Job description

Assistant Contract Manager will support the Contract Manager by providing functional, technical, or process leadership and managing the financial aspects of construction projects, such as cost management and billing. The Assistant Contract Manager will also assist in reviewing, negotiating, and administering contract proposals and specifications for client contracts/subcontracts, as well as identifying, evaluating, and advising on potential project problems or risks.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist the Contract Manager in developing and implementing procedures for contract management and administration in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Assist in negotiating and evaluating contractual terms, subcontractor agreements, pricing change orders, and final settlements with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Assist in managing the contractual aspects of all projects to ensure they are on schedule and within budget.
  • Support ensuring the company has a steady stream of projects and maximizes its resources and capabilities.
  • Monitor contractual records and documentation, such as correspondence, contractual changes, status reports, and other documents for ongoing projects. Develop costing and contracts databases.
  • Provide guidance on contractual matters to project managers and staff through training and communication of contract details to ensure visibility and awareness.
  • Support in identifying recurrent issues during tender preparation, developing solutions, and recognizing contract variations that impact project profitability, seeking early resolution.
  • Assist in preparing and developing tender documentation, ensuring submissions meet deadlines.
  • Monitor and ensure early closure of final accounts for projects.
  • Plan and monitor subcontract awards to prevent project delays.
  • Maintain and contribute to the effectiveness of the Integrated Management System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Contracts Manager and management.
