Overview

[What the role is]

[What you will be working on]

  • Responsible for the overall planning, organisation, co-ordination, and supervision of Hydrographic Survey.
  • Ensure Singapore waters are adequately and accurately surveyed: a) Assure quality and certify results of hydrographic surveys (IHO Cat “A” in Hydrographic Surveying required for approval).
  • Oversee regulation of hydrographic surveys in Singapore Waters.
  • Formulate and implement the department’s policies, work plans and procedures, including:
    • Training and career development
    • Work plan
    • Digitalisation and transformation
    • ISO Quality management system
  • Assist the Chief Hydrographer on formulating and implementing the division’s policies, work plans and procedures.
  • Participate in regional and international fora on hydrographic matters and safeguard Singapore's strategic maritime interests.
  • Undertake project assignments as and when directed.
Qualifications

  • Background in hydrography, geomatics, surveying, engineering, geographical information systems, maritime navigation or a related field

  • Strong familiarity with hydrographic equipment and software
  • Strong understanding of nautical chart production, maintenance, and use
