Job Summary:

The Artificial Lift NPD Engineering Manager is responsible for managing worldwide Artificial Lift Technology Development projects, a portfolio of products and technology development projects, and for managing the Engineering Domain organization. The Artificial Lift NPD Engineering Manager plays a key role in maintaining and developing the NPD organization technical expertise and project pipeline. The role ultimately enables and supports the engineering teams to deploy new Artificial Lift products & technology that respond to a market need.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop product and technology road maps and develop strategies with input from the business stakeholders and Research.
  • Actively search business partnerships for investment purposes and technology development strategy with the support of business functions.
  • Ensure engineering activities and products comply with applicable standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver all projects within the portfolio on time, within budget and in keeping with the requirements of key stakeholders.
  • Plan and budget resources for product and technology projects, and for the Métier organization.
  • Provide prompt and efficient reporting of activities.
  • Define and develop project management and métier infrastructure.
  • Monitor and control the quality of Product Line and technology deliverables.
  • Manage, coach and mentor managers and métier staff in the Product Line and technology organizations. Direct managers in the areas of scheduling, technical direction, future planning and budgeting.

Requirements and skills:

- Master’s in Engineering, with a preference in Mechanical Engineering.

- Must possess an extensive knowledge of Oil & Gas Artificial Lift products and technology (motor, pump, protector, gas separator, gauges, gas handler in term of design, simulation, test, manufacturing, and assembly/disassembly)

- More than 15 years of experience in the upstream Oil & Gas industry is required, exposure to a Field environment at one point in the career will be a clear plus.

- Proven experience in managing technical portfolios and projects with direct client interaction, including leading technical discussions and presentations

- Expertise in designing and developing new products, from concept to production

- Proven track record of managing an internationally distributed team of project and program managers, ensuring successful project delivery with budget responsibilities

- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across different regions, managing portfolios with international exposure

- Knowledge of data analytics and/or machine learning is highly desirable for managing reliability teams responsible for equipment performance monitoring and improvement.

- Academic or professional exposure to sustainability technology development/research and/or project management will be a clear plus. Sustainability is a critical deliverable for SLB to achieve its net-zero carbon emissions goal. Therefore, integrating sustainability in our design and technology is a key aspect of this role.
