About the Job

Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to facilitate the adoption of its products among customers and collaborate with them to address complex technical challenges.

You’ll be an integral part of our Applied AI Engineering team, working closely with customers from pre-sale through post-implementation to ensure successful deployment and integration of Mistral AI’s solutions.

What You Will Do

• Onboard customers on our products and APIs, guiding them on prompting, evaluation, fine-tuning, and integration with back-end and front-end interfaces.
• Work on cutting-edge GenAI applications across consumer and industrial use cases, enabling key technological transformation for clients.
• Independently deploy high-impact production use cases across diverse industries.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers on complex customer projects involving fine-tuning and advanced LLM applications, and contribute to open-source codebases.
• Participate in pre-sales discussions to assess client needs and provide technical guidance on Mistral’s technologies.
• Work with product and science teams to continuously improve model capabilities and products based on customer feedback.

About You

• Fluent in English.
• PhD or Master’s degree in AI or Data Science.
• 2+ years as a technical IC (data scientist or software engineer) on AI-based products.
• Experience fine-tuning LLMs and implementing advanced RAG or agentic use cases.
• Strong understanding of ML/LLM concepts and algorithms.
• Hands-on experience deploying LLM or NLP applications.
• Proven experience implementing AI/ML products with APIs, front-end, and back-end systems.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with PyTorch.
• Familiarity with agent frameworks (e.g., Langchain) and vector databases.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences.

Ideally You Have:

• Contributed to open-source projects, especially in the LLM space.
• Experience in roles such as Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Product Manager.
