Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking an Applications Scientist to be based in Singapore. You will provide advanced apps support for Atlas G6, Aspect G2, IRIS S2 and IRIS G2, including demos and on-site evaluations. You will work with customers, apps, product marketing and internal engineering to deliver successful outcomes and high satisfaction.

You will also lead N+1 demos, contribute to technical qualifications, and participate in trainings while travel up to 60% of time, especially early in your career.

Qualifications

• PhD in Microelectronics, Semiconductor Devices, Optics, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Fresh PhD graduates are strongly encouraged to apply; training will be provided.
• Knowledge of semiconductor wafer fabrication processes and device physics.
• Experience with optical simulations, software modeling, statistics and data analysis.
• Programming skills, such as Python.
• Strong teamwork, willingness to share and grow with the team.
• Ability to identify and troubleshoot problems independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Committed to excellence, quality and integrity; highly organized with good time management.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Responsible for providing key strategic customers advanced apps support (onsite/eval/demos) for market share gains/defence and new penetrations, including Atlas G6 (small spot and thick film), Aspect G2, IRIS S2, and IRIS G2. The role includes preparation, execution, and optimization of N+1 demos/evals, as well as providing on-site technical support for key customer programs such as the AiDx project. The position requires close collaboration with customers, apps, product marketing, and internal engineering teams to ensure successful outcomes and customer satisfaction.

As an Applications Scientist at Onto Innovation,

• You will be part of a highly collaborative, competitive, motivated, innovative, diverse, friendly, and hardworking applications team based in Singapore.

• You will work closely with our key customers (both regionally and internationally) in the semiconductor wafer fabrication industry.

• You will be on the forefront of technology, creating innovative metrology solutions for complex materials and semiconductor device structures such as Thin Film modeling, Optical Critical Dimension modeling, Machine Learning solutions (e.g., 3DNAND, Logic, DRAM, etc).

• To carry out this role you will need to travel internationally (up to 60% of your time depending on the company's business needs, especially during your junior years) to collaborate with our colleagues and customer, as well as to gain valuable knowledge and experience to prepare you for greater roles and responsibilities.

  • PhD in Microelectronics, Semiconductor Devices, Optics, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, etc.

  • The following technical knowledge/experiences will be additional strengths in this job application:

  • Knowledge of semiconductor wafer fabrication process, device process/physics.

  • Experience with optical simulations, software modeling, statistics, data analysis, strongly desired.
