Job description

Summary

This position is a mid-level research scientist responsible for researching projects including product development, process enhancement, patent development, and strong linkage to customers for joint development and technical support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work independently to develop and formulate a wide range of commercially-viable food and supplement applications, including but not limited to sports nutrition products, bakery products, nutritional bars, healthy snacks, extruded snacks, culinary products, confectionery, and plant-based meats, utilizing Glanbia’s broad nutritional ingredients portfolio including dairy proteins, plant proteins, bioactives, vitamins, and minerals.
• Support sales and business development teams frequently for customer support and visits.
• Provide technical support and work directly with customers both on and off-site.
• Conduct pilot or commercial trials, taking formulations from bench-top to pilot plant and commercialization.
• Create new nutritional product concepts using Glanbia products that challenge existing market offerings.
• Gain fundamental understanding of plant processes used to produce nutritional products and assist production with troubleshooting.
• Develop intellectual property in the form of patents to protect and add value to the business.
• Interpret complex scientific data to demonstrate product benefits, and develop reports for scientific and lay audiences.
• Educate sales teams through formal and informal training, especially on new products being commercialized.
• Test new products for flavor, texture, color, nutritional content, and compliance with standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Master of Science degree (M.S.) or equivalent; or a B.S. degree with 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to synthesize ideas from scientific literature, financial reports, and legal documents; experience in publishing scientific articles.
• Present information effectively to management, public groups, and boards of directors.
• Apply principles of scientific thinking to practical problems; interpret formulas, equations, and graphs.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• In-depth knowledge of instruments and pilot processing equipment.
• Ability to scale projects from pilot to full-scale production.
• Good communication skills for working with international teams.
• Self-motivated with resilience for development work.

WORK LOCATION

This role is based onsite at our Singapore office located at 11 Biopolis Way.
