We are seeking a talented Application Support Specialist with a strong aptitude for programming to join our dynamic Capital Market Department. In this role, you will provide exceptional technical support and actively contribute to improving support processes. Your programming expertise will be crucial in developing custom solutions, automating tasks, streamlining workflows, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Capital Markets IT involves technology solutions and systems used in financial markets for trading, investment, and related activities, including electronic trading platforms, risk management systems, market risk, counterparty risk, algorithmic trading, data analytics, and regulatory measures. Advanced technologies like APIs, artificial intelligence, and cloud solutions are increasingly prevalent to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Application monitoring responsibilities:
- Define and implement application monitoring in coordination with the build team.
- Supervise and monitor daily and monthly chains; handle user requests closely with project, infrastructure, and production teams.
- Support overnight batches during Singapore morning and early afternoon to minimize downtime.
- Process and report on data quality of risk chains, especially during monthly runs.
- Incidents and Requests Management:
- Provide Level 1 and Level 2 application support to business users (traders, risk managers, analysts, etc.).
- Analyze and manage incidents, problems, and requests.
- Problem Management and Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain knowledge bases in coordination with build and operations teams.
- Collaborate on problem prioritization and resolution, contributing to long-term solutions.
- Provide non-functional requirements for monitoring enhancements.
- Automated Solution Programming:
- Write and maintain code based on technical specifications for applications and OS.
- Proactively focus on security, incident prevention, productivity, and service quality improvements.
Skills
Must Have:
- 1-4+ years of application support experience
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux, PowerShell scripting
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Good understanding of Capital Markets and market activities
- Knowledge of ITIL concepts
- Proven SQL skills
- Basic understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud platforms
- Basic understanding of NoSQL databases
- Ability to manage SLAs & KPIs, communicate effectively, and analyze risks
- Interest in automation and continuous improvement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure independently and in teams
Nice to Have:
- Python
- ITIL certification
- Experience with financial instruments and trading lifecycle
- Experience with external sources like Bloomberg, Reuters
- Knowledge of Regulatory Reporting (MAS, HKMA, EMIR, JFSA, CFTC, MIFID)
