Job summary

Tangspac Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Application Head to lead a 30+ member Asia Application Department within Technology, covering development, tech lead, testers and BAs for front-to-back office systems. Strong technical leadership in financial institutions is essential.

The role emphasizes strategic tech leadership, delivery governance, vendor engagement and setting high standards for software engineering across multiple business apps.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree with substantial experience leading a large development team (min 20).
• Minimum 6 years in banking/financial services environment.
• Experience managing large IT projects with offshore/vendor resources.
• Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of development tools, modern tech stacks, and security considerations.
• Prior exposure to Java or .NET development and workflow/compliance apps is a plus.

Job description

Reporting to the head of the Technology Division for the oversight of Asia Application Department within Technology covering both Development and application maintenance team

This role will suit someone with a strong technical and leadership background in financial institution. The role will manage team size of around 30+ headcounts. It covers Development, Tech lead, Testers and BAs for all key business applications and especially the solutions used to process the front to back office systems

Successful candidates will need to demonstrate senior experience as Application head type roles with strong technical background overseeing the department and specifically striving for improving Tech standards and organisational setup.

• Provide strategic leadership and manage development of new technologies and products that align with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
• Managing entire project life cycles including development, testing
• Ensuring all projects are delivered on time , within budget
• Work with the Business teams (Head / MDs) to define and collaborate with other departments, to understand customer needs and develop solutions that meet those needs.
• Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, and evaluate their potential impact on the company's products and operations.
• Recommend and support software engineering best practices and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the engineering team.
• Drive technological excellence, making decisions that will impact the current and future operations of all software.
• Advocate best practices in software development

Skills and Experience Required:

• Bachelor or Master degree with substantial experience in leading sizable development team (min 20 members) with min 6 years of experience in banking industry
• Experience in managing large complex IT projects with offshore and vendor resources
• Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a team of talented engineers.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable plans.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working closely with cross-functional teams and executive leadership.
• Must have appreciation of various application development tools and latest technologies
• Prior experience in managing java or .net development will be a plus
• Experience in workflow and compliance application is a plus
• Appreciation of IT security ,Tech Risk in financial industry
