Job summary

Gunvor Group is seeking a seasoned sanctions officer/legal counsel for its Asia-Pacific operations. You will advise on US, EU, and UK regimes, conduct due diligence and screening, and support cross-border transactions.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in sanctions law, sanctions compliance or international trade compliance.
• Experience within commodities trading, energy, shipping, or another internationally exposed industry is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of US, EU and UK sanctions regimes.
• Experience conducting sanctions risk assessments, compliance reviews, control testing or audit-related activities is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary sanctions advisor for Asia-Pacific activities and provide practical risk-based guidance on sanctions matters.
• Conduct sanctions reviews of transactions, counterparties, and ownership structures, including cross-border matters.
• Manage sanctions due diligence, KYC escalations, and counterparty questionnaires for APAC operations.
• Oversee vessel screening and sanctions-related screening activities for APAC operations.
• Support traders and deal teams on sanctions risks related to transactions, tenders and opportunities.
• Deliver sanctions training and contribute to governance, policies and controls.
