Job summary

ByteDance is recruiting for an APAC Accounting and Reporting professional based in Singapore. You will handle month-end and quarter-end closes for APAC entities, prepare financial statements, and coordinate with auditors to ensure timely reporting.

The role requires IFRS expertise, experience with SEA tax rules, and Mandarin proficiency to communicate with Chinese stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in accounting/finance is required; CPA/ACCA is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in a professional services firm with SEA accounting and reporting exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and regional regulatory requirements across APAC.
  • Hands-on experience in month-end close, analytical reviews, and full set of accounts.
  • Basic knowledge of tax requirements and regulatory compliance across SEA countries.
  • Familiarity with financial internal controls, system implementation, and process improvements.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills; growth mindset and problem solving.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is essential due to frequent Mandarin-speaking stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for accounting and financial reporting of the Group's APAC entities, including Singapore, focusing on month-end and quarter-end close for e-commerce entities.
  • Post journal entries to support monthly and quarterly closings.
  • Prepare trial balances and financial statements accurately and on time.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and related tasks.
  • Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and statutory reporting; manage full audit cycle to meet deadlines.
  • Prepare financial data to support the tax team in submissions and inspections.
  • Prepare data for government declarations and other statutory filings.
  • Provide financial data and analysis to other departments as needed.
  • Collaborate with Tax, Treasury, FSSC, and other Finance teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support ad-hoc projects, including system enhancements and process improvements.

Responsibilities

Team Introduction: The APAC Accounting and Reporting team at ByteDance is responsible for the core financial accounting activities of the Group's entities across the region. The team establishes regional accounting processes for multiple business lines, provides financial guidance, and partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. Key responsibilities include the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, as well as financial analysis and reporting in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements across the APAC region.

  • - Be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of the Group's APAC entities, including but not limited to entities in Singapore, with a focus on the month-end and quarter-end close processes for e-commerce entities.
  • - Post journal entries to ensure smooth monthly and quarterly closings.
  • - Prepare trial balances and financial statements accurately and on time.
  • - Perform monthly account reconciliations and related tasks.
  • - Liaise with external auditors during annual financial audits and statutory reporting for assigned entities; manage the full audit cycle to ensure all reporting deadlines are met.
  • - Prepare financial data to support the tax team in completing tax submissions and assist in tax inspections, if any.
  • - Prepare financial data required for government declarations and other statutory filings.
  • - Provide financial data and analysis according to the business needs of other departments.
  • - Collaborate with Tax, Treasury, Financial Shared Service Centre ("FSSC"), and other Finance teams to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • - Support ad-hoc projects, including system enhancements and process improvements.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • - Extensive experience in a professional services firm, with a strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting across Southeast Asia (SEA).
  • - Strong knowledge of IFRS and familiarity with financial reporting and regulatory requirements across the APAC region.
  • - Hands-on experience in month-end close, analytical reviews, and the preparation of full sets of accounts.
  • - Basic knowledge of tax requirements and regulatory compliance across SEA countries.
  • - Familiarity with financial internal controls, system implementation, and process improvement initiatives.
  • - Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills, with strong logical thinking, a growth mindset, and the ability to drive process improvements and solve complex problems.
  • - Proficiency in Mandarin is essential, as the role requires frequent communication with Chinese stakeholders in Mandarin-speaking markets.
Preferred Qualifications
  • - Professional accounting qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, or CA are preferred.
  • - Experience in the e-commerce industry is preferred.
