Job summary

Lonza Singapore in Tuas is launching a fully site-based Career Conversion Program (CCP) training period of 15 months within the Development Services, Analytical Development department.

You will join the Characterization team to apply mass spectrometry and other analytical methods to characterize biopharmaceuticals, ensuring quality and regulatory compliance while supporting cGMP batch release testing in QC laboratories.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant Science field and understanding of protein production processes.
  • Familiarity with cGMP regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with good communication.

Responsibilities

  • Execute analytical testing and interpret data, communicating progress to Line Manager and project teams.
  • Apply methods including capillary electrophoresis, HPLC/UPLC, UV spectrophotometry, LC-MS, SEC-MALS.
  • Review GMP documentation (SOPs, protocols, reports) and regulatory documents as required.
  • General lab support including housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and inventory of supplies.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and contribute to operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrate safety awareness and support training within the department.

Job description

The Career Conversion Program (CCP) training period lasts for 15 months. Structured on‑job training (OJT) will be provided and conducted at the participating companies to facilitate the application of learning and to ensure that individuals acquire necessary competencies to perform at their job. This is a fully site‑based role at Singapore Tuas. Working together in person supports close, real‑time collaboration and the technical precision needed to manufacture medicines to the highest quality and safety standards. The successful applicant for this position will be joining the Characterization team under the Analytical Development department within Development Services in Lonza Singapore, Science Park Facility, focusing on protein characterization using mass spectrometry and other analytical methods.

At Development Services, we are responsible for the development and characterization of manufacturing processes used for the production of novel therapeutic recombinant proteins for Lonza’s global client base. You will be responsible for performing studies in compliance with ICH guidelines, GMP and business principles in the Characterization team, ensuring that projects are delivered in a timely and efficient manner, and driving innovative improvements. The team perform studies to characterize biopharmaceuticals to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the molecule attributes and to generate fully qualified and characterized reference materials that can be used as part of subsequent cGMP batch release testing in the QC laboratories. Occasional weekend work may be required.

What you'll do:

Execution of analytical testing, analyze and interpret data to communicate progress and escalade challenges to Line Manager, project teams and customers as appropriate. Test methods employed include, but are not limited to, techniques using capillary electrophoresis, HPLC/UPLC, UV spectrophotometry, LC-MS (peptide mapping, intact mass analysis and oligosaccharide profiling), SEC-MALS, etc. Exercise technical discretion in the execution and interpretation of experiments for reference standard creation and qualification, forced degradation, product characterization and biocompatibility studies per relevant ICH regulatory guidelines. Review and approve GMP documentation e.g. SOPs, protocols and reports, regulatory documents as required. General lab support including housekeeping, equipment maintenance, inventory of supplies, etc. Troubleshooting equipment issues and an interest in operational efficiency. Contribute to departmental safety and training programmes as required. Well organized with good problem solving skills, a high level of attention to detail and have a passion for delivering high quality data on time. Demonstrate flexibility to support other activities within the Analytical Development department.

What we’re looking for:

Degree in a relevant Science field or Equivalent Understanding of theory and application of mammalian cell culture for production of protein production, purification and analysis.
