Job description

Consultant Anatomical Pathologist

A Consultant Surgical (Anatomic) Pathologist position is available at a long-standing tertiary hospital in Singapore.

The facility is a 795-bed general and acute care hospital located in the northern part of Singapore. It is part of a major healthcare group providing tertiary healthcare to a resident population of 1.5 million in Singapore's central and northern regions.

The position is based in the Anatomic Pathology Section of the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM). The anatomical pathology laboratory is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

The Surgical Pathologist will collaborate with colleagues from two other hospitals to provide anatomical pathology services to the main hospital and an adjoining Community Hospital.

Responsibilities include diagnostic reporting of general histopathology and cytopathology cases, intraoperative consultations, validation and quality control of laboratory processes, leadership of the surgical pathology service, and other consultative services to various clinical departments. The role involves interaction with surgical and oncology services, attendance at multidisciplinary tumor boards, and tissue audit meetings.

Additional duties include serving on hospital and national committees, teaching medical students, residents, surgical pathology trainees, and laboratory staff. Research opportunities are available through collaboration with hospital and institutional colleagues.

Candidates should hold a medical degree registered with the Singapore Medical Council and possess postgraduate qualifications such as FRCPA, FRCPath with CCT from the UK, or U.S. Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology. Appointment depends on relevant experience as a Surgical Pathologist.
