The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan’s leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.
Responsibilities:
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research on emerging trends, technologies, and market developments relevant to the insurance industry. Analyze market data to identify growth opportunities and provide actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Business Model: Build and analyse financial models and projections for the projects, and support team with necessary collaterals.
- Program & Stakeholder Management: Work closely with internal teams (Product, Tech, Legal, Marketing) and external partners to drive innovation initiatives. Prepare presentations and recommendations for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Business Development Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Innovation team with various business development initiatives.
- Startup & Ecosystem Engagement: Identify, evaluate, and engage with startups, accelerators, and venture capital firms to explore collaboration opportunities. Facilitate pilot projects and partnerships with fintech/insurtech players to drive innovation.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of experience in consulting, venture capital, corporate innovation, fintech, or a related field.
- Passion for working on strategy, partnerships, innovation, digital technology, or related fields in the financial services domain.
- Strong analytical skills with expertise in financial modeling, market research, and data-driven decision-making.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distill complex insights into clear recommendations.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certifications in program management are a plus.
