Role Purpose
  • Support the development of competitive and consistent pricing proposals for global and regional tenders, related to customers in the largest sales channels, including proactive recommendations to sales owners regarding the pricing strategy.
  • Monitor the performance of global and regional customer pricing.
  • Contribute to the improvement of customer pricing processes at upper levels and support respective implementations.
  • Provide advice and expertise to the pricing community and global organizations.

How will you contribute to the success of DHL?

  • Development of competitive and consistent pricing for global and regional tenders
  • Clarify service requirements and obtain relevant inputs, e.g., shipping profile, customer strategy, target prices, RFQ response guidelines, etc.
  • Support conversations regarding the pricing strategy for each tender involved, providing solid justification for the approach to follow with the sales owners.
  • Analyse profitability and rate levels for existing and potential business and pricing; benchmark against competition and DHL pricing for other customers.
  • Ensure “deep dive” cost analysis to determine customer-specific costs to serve, e.g., special pickup, customer implants, dedicated linehaul, B2C service, value-added services, etc.
  • Prepare consolidated prices in DHL rate card formats and customer/RFQ templates.
  • Ensure consistency of pricing across customers, products, countries, and weight breaks, and enforce pricing policies.
  • Ensure documentation of final price proposals and communication to relevant stakeholders according to standards.

  • Performance of global and regional customer pricing
  • Perform analysis of bids won/lost, and propose recommendations.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews of rate implementation, “ship to profile”, and profitability.
  • Perform “deep dive” profitability analysis.
  • Identify issues and recommend improvements.
  • Support the implementation of GPIs and the introduction of new surcharges for global customers.
  • Preparation of relevant reports/scorecards. Improvements to the customer pricing processes.
  • Development of tools, procedures, and databases to systemize the tasks of rate setting, profitability analysis, benchmarking, and price simulation.
  • Develop and deliver training on the customer pricing process, tools, and techniques.
  • Propose improvements to increase the efficiency and quality of customer pricing processes and support respective implementations.
  • Lead complex costing analysis of global customers and ensure databases are maintained with the costing factors that are to be used in customer-specific pricing.

  • Provide advice and expertise to the pricing community and a global organization
  • Act as a global/regional contact for customer pricing.
  • Support country pricing managers on large country bids, especially for >€1M and multi-country and multi-region opportunities.
  • Provide input to the regional Tender Review Boards as required.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives.

Do you have what it takes?

  • University degree with strong analytical background (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Economics).
  • At least 2 years of DHL Express experience, and/or prior pricing or analytical experience, is preferred.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in an analytical, financial, or marketing function (ideally, in a Costing or Pricing function in a country, cluster, or region is preferred).
  • Fluency in English is required.
