Job description

Job Summary :

Responsible for conducting fundamental company research to support our investment process for Asia ex Japan equities covering small and mid-cap companies in the India and ASEAN markets. Part of the research team supporting fund managers based in Hong Kong, London and Singapore, and working in cooperation with our local joint venture partner.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Research, understand and identify the key sectoral trends that will influence the equity valuations of the companies within the specified area of coverage.
  • Analyse individual companies to understand the present fundamentals and identify the risks and opportunities that will determine the sustainability of the business model in the medium-to-long term.
  • Conduct detailed financial modelling to determine a Fair Value estimate for each company and express investment conclusions to fund managers through changes/maintenance of stock Grades.
  • Apply our teams’ ROIC-based framework to identify companies that generate persistently high returns and are mispriced as well as companies that are transitioning their ROIC to or from a positive spread over their WACC.
  • Research work includes company visits, optimising information from brokers/expert networks/independent research providers, ESG analysis and the maintenance of financial models.
  • Communicate investment views to our fund managers via formal research notes, daily/weekly conference calls and ad-hoc contact and emails.
  • Proactively manage stock coverage lists by identifying new names of interest and dropping coverage of companies that are no longer investable on fundamental grounds.
  • Support our ESG commitments, including proactive engagement with companies.
  • Where appropriate, collaborate and support other analysts and investment teams across Schroders.

Qualification / Expectations:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. CFA designation is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in providing investment recommendations within ASEAN and India markets as an Equity Analyst.
  • Experience in the ASEAN and Indian equity market, including key sectors, companies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in financial modelling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities
