This is a senior-level management role within the Hedge Fund Fund Services Business Unit of the State Street Alternative Investment Solutions Group. The position interacts with professionals at all levels both internally and externally, including senior executives of State Street. Therefore, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate strong initiative, perform well under pressure, and manage multiple, diverse assignments. The role is responsible for managing departments experiencing significant growth.

What you will be responsible for

As Client Service Director, you will:

  • Provide overall direction to your team to ensure coordinated efforts that meet financial and operational goals quarterly and annually.
  • Develop and execute business plans internally and in partnership with clients.
  • Manage relationships with clients at appropriate levels to maintain confidence in State Street.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by managing relationships with key contacts and meeting expectations.
  • Maintain quality standards through adequate processes and procedures, regularly reviewed within the department.
  • Direct and train subordinate managers and staff, addressing employee concerns sensitively.
  • Review and approve NAV files according to established policies and procedures.
  • Communicate company initiatives and goals effectively to your team.
  • Develop department budgets and staffing plans, including proposals for new business.
  • Monitor and approve departmental expenses.
  • Assess operational effectiveness and suggest streamlining opportunities.
  • Generate ideas for new products and services to expand business and meet client needs.
  • Participate in new business processes, including proposal reviews and staffing allocations.
  • Represent the organization as a senior executive both internally and externally.
  • Complete performance planning, goal setting, feedback, and formal appraisals.
  • Coordinate resources such as staff, space, and equipment.
  • Lead special projects and serve on committees and task forces.
  • Provide leadership beyond your division as needed.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • University degree in business, mathematics, finance, or economics; accounting concentration is a plus. Minimum of 11 years of accounting experience, including 3-4 years in supervisory and financial reporting roles.
  • Experience in hedge funds and fund of funds is required.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
