Becton, Dickinson and Company (BD) in Singapore invites a full-time six-month internship for students in Engineering, Data Science or IT to help build an AI assistant using enterprise platforms.
You'll gain hands-on experience with Python, Power Platform and data analysis while collaborating with CI teams; travel to Tuas Ave 2 may be required.
BD offers a learning-focused environment with exposure to governance, data sources, and Microsoft 365 tools.
Design and develop an AI assistant using an approved enterprise platform such as Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry or an equivalent governed platform. Build the solution only on approved and certified data layers. Do not connect directly to raw transactional systems unless specifically authorized by the relevant data owner. Develop prompts, workflows and retrieval logic that answer manufacturing productivity questions with traceable sources. Create safeguards that reduce unsupported responses, protect confidential information and require citations for quantitative outputs. Develop and maintain a structured test set covering common plant questions, edge cases, access restrictions and expected responses.
Analyze certified productivity and cost measures to highlight performance gaps and potential improvement areas by plant, process, asset or loss category. Connect operational losses to relevant cost drivers, including labor hours per unit, scrap, rework, downtime, changeover, energy use and material yield. Develop a recommendation capability that retrieves similar A3, DMAIC, Kaizen, Yokoten and Shingijutsu cases based on problem type, asset, process or waste category. Present recommendations with supporting evidence, source references, estimated value where approved, and clearly stated limitations.
Create a reusable prompt library for productivity analysis, gap identification, root-cause exploration, best-practice retrieval and improvement-project preparation. Organize prompts by user need and manufacturing-excellence workflow so that plant teams can use them consistently. Document assumptions, approved data sources, expected inputs, output format and known limitations for each prompt or agent feature.
Conduct an AI maturity and readiness assessment for participating plants, covering data availability, tools, skills and adoption barriers. Run pilot sessions, user testing, office hours and short training sessions for plant engineers and Continuous Improvement leads. Collect user feedback and usage evidence, then prioritize improvements based on business value, usability and adoption. Create user guides, quick-reference materials, FAQs, governance guidance and a structured handover package for the designated business owner. Participate in relevant tier meetings and CI reviews to ensure the solution supports existing ways of working rather than creating a parallel process.
