Job summary

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) invites applications for a Research Associate / Research Fellow at the Institute for Pedagogical Innovation, Research and Excellence (InsPIRE) to advance AI-driven teaching and learning. The role focuses on leading strategic research directions in AI and learning analytics to enhance NTU's signature pedagogy.

Applicants should have a masters (Associate) or PhD (Fellow) in AI-related fields, with at least 2 years hands-on experience in AI/ML and familiarity

Qualifications

• Masters (for Research Associate) or PhD (for Research Fellow) in artificial intelligence, computer science, learning analytics or related field.
• At least 2 years of hands-on technical experience in AI, ML or generative AI application development.
• Familiarity with emerging AI technologies, AI agents and analytics in educational settings, including data privacy, research ethics and AI governance.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in programming with ML frameworks, LLM APIs, and AI application development.
• Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams; prior research leadership for Fellows.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate intellectual and research independence in identifying and advancing strategic research directions in AI for NTU's pedagogy.
• Provide intellectual and research leadership in shaping strategic AI research directions.
• Apply AI technologies, including generative AI, ML and learning analytics, to develop innovative and scalable educational solutions.
• Develop and implement AI integration solutions and data-powered applications.
• Conduct technical experimentation and iterative refinement to optimise AI-enabled tools.
• Translate research findings into actionable recommendations and scalable educational solutions.
