Job description

Role Description and Responsibilities

The AI Engineer will be an individual contributor responsible for designing, developing and deploying practical AI-enabled tools and other digital solutions that enhance SGX RegCo’s regulatory effectiveness, improve operational efficiency and support more risk-based, data-informed regulatory work.

This role sits at the intersection of regulation, technology, AI governance and business transformation. The successful candidate will be reporting to the hiring manager(s) within SGX RegCo and will work closely with regulatory teams across SGX RegCo as well as SGX Group Technology, information security, risk management and other relevant corporate functions. The role requires the ability to understand regulatory workflows, translate business problems into technical solutions, navigate enterprise technology constraints, and build secure, scalable and compliant tools using platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Gemini Enterprise, AI agents and workflow automation tools.

The role is expected to be hands‑on. The candidate should be able to move from problem discovery and solution design to prototyping, stakeholder testing, deployment support, user training and post‑implementation refinement. The primary focus is the delivery of practical AI and other digital tools that can be adopted by regulatory teams and embedded into day‑to‑day regulatory work.

Key Responsibilities
A. AI and Digital Transformation
  • Identify, prioritise and deliver AI and digitalisation use cases across SGX RegCo’s regulatory functions.
  • Work with regulatory functions to understand regulatory pain points, manual processes, repetitive review tasks, data‑intensive workflows and opportunities for automation.
  • Translate regulatory requirements into practical AI‑enabled and automation solutions. For example, AI agents, document review assistants, data extraction tools, regulatory knowledge assistants, workflow automations and decision‑support dashboards.
  • Develop prototypes and minimum viable products to demonstrate feasibility, gather user feedback and support business adoption.
  • Help shape SGX RegCo’s internal roadmap for responsible AI adoption, focusing on regulatory use cases that improve productivity, consistency, timeliness and analytical depth.
B. Development of AI Tools and AI Agents
  • Build, configure and deploy AI tools using enterprise‑approved platforms such as Microsoft Copilot, Gemini Enterprise, and other developer tools approved by SGX Group.
  • Design AI agents that can support regulatory tasks such as:
  • extracting key information from announcements, annual reports, financial statements, circulars, prospectuses and regulatory filings;
  • checking whether public disclosures have been announced via SGXNet;
  • checking documents for compliance with rules, precedence, internal guidance and identifying regulatory issues;
  • supporting case triage, risk assessment and issue tracking;
  • generating first drafts of regulatory queries, memos or review notes for human review;
  • maintaining internal regulatory knowledge bases and retrieval‑augmented generation tools.
  • Develop prompt engineering frameworks, reusable templates, structured workflows and validation checks to improve the reliability and repeatability of AI outputs.
  • Integrate AI tools with existing systems, document repositories, workflow tools and data sources where feasible, in collaboration with Group Technology.
  • Ensure that AI outputs remain subject to appropriate human oversight, validation and auditability, particularly where the tools support regulatory judgement or decision‑making.
C. Stakeholder Engagement and Business Translation
  • Engage teams across SGX RegCo to understand their regulatory processes, operational constraints and risk considerations.
  • Act as a bridge between regulatory users and technology teams, translating business requirements into technical specifications and explaining technical constraints in practical terms to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Conduct workshops, interviews and process‑mapping sessions to identify opportunities for AI and automation.
  • Work with hiring managers and senior regulatory stakeholders to prioritise high‑impact use cases and manage expectations on feasibility, timelines, dependencies and risks.
  • Support change management, user adoption and capability‑building by preparing user guides, training materials, demonstrations and adoption plans.
D. Technology Architecture, Governance and Risk Management
  • Develop a strong understanding of SGX Group’s technology architecture, approved platforms, infrastructure constraints, data environments and integration pathways.
  • Work closely with Group Technology to ensure that AI and digitalization solutions are aligned with enterprise architecture, system design principles, cybersecurity requirements and operational support models.
  • Collaborate with information security, technology risk, legal, compliance and data governance teams to ensure that AI and digitalisation tools comply with applicable internal policies and external regulatory expectations.
  • Assess and manage AI‑related risks, including confidentiality, data leakage, hallucination, model bias, over‑reliance, explainability, access control, audit trail, record retention and operational resilience.
  • Support the development of appropriate controls for AI and digitalisation tools, including user access rights, data classification, testing protocols, approval workflows, monitoring mechanisms and fallback procedures.
  • Maintain documentation for AI and digitalisation solutions, including business requirements, model/tool design, data sources, limitations, risk assessments, testing results and user guidance.
E. Delivery, Testing and Continuous Improvement
  • Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of AI and digitalisation initiatives from ideation to deployment.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing, quality assurance testing and output validation to ensure that solutions are fit for regulatory use.
  • Define success metrics for AI and digitalization tools, such as time saved, reduction in manual effort, improved consistency, faster issue identification, enhanced supervision coverage or improved user satisfaction.
  • Monitor usage, gather feedback and continuously refine deployed tools.
  • Keep abreast of developments in AI, generative AI, agentic workflows, regulatory technology, supervisory technology and enterprise AI governance.
  • Recommend enhancements to SGX RegCo’s AI tooling, internal capabilities and operating model.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Financial Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong hands‑on experience in building AI, automation, data or software solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Practical experience with generative AI tools, large language models, AI agents, prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation, workflow automation or enterprise AI platforms.
  • Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, document processing, natural language processing, structured and unstructured data extraction, and system integration concepts.
  • Good understanding of enterprise technology environments, including access controls, cloud platforms, identity management, data security and software development lifecycle practices.
  • Strong documentation, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non‑technical users.
