Job description

AI & Emerging Technology Risk Governance Security Professional

We are seeking a seasoned professional to lead and shape the risk oversight framework for artificial intelligence and next-generation technologies across the organisation. This senior-level role is responsible for developing policies, controls, and governance mechanisms to manage the risks associated with AI adoption, machine learning systems, and data-intensive platforms.

You will be part of an independent risk function tasked with driving secure and responsible innovation, ensuring that AI technologies are aligned with enterprise risk appetite, regulatory requirements, and internal standards of integrity, security, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Spearhead the organisation’s strategic direction for AI risk governance, aligning it with enterprise risk frameworks and technology oversight standards.
  • Lead comprehensive risk assessments for AI models, algorithms, and decisioning engines, including vulnerability reviews, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  • Design and implement control measures to address emerging threats related to model bias, adversarial attacks, data misuse, and unintended outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to guide the secure development and deployment of AI solutions, embedding trust and transparency across all phases.
  • Monitor the external landscape for regulatory developments, ethical AI standards, and evolving security practices; ensure internal frameworks remain compliant and adaptive.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reporting to senior leadership, highlighting key control gaps, risk trends, and proposed remediation plans related to AI deployments.
  • Work with assurance teams to validate AI system integrity through independent reviews, incident post-mortems, and audit readiness.
  • Promote a culture of responsible AI usage through structured awareness campaigns, policy enforcement, and technical training initiatives.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields; advanced degrees or executive education in risk, ethics, or AI governance are valued.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technology risk, cybersecurity, or enterprise governance, with strong exposure to AI/ML systems and risk disciplines.
  • Strong technical familiarity with model architecture, training pipelines, model interpretability, data protection, and federated learning environments.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and global standards related to responsible AI, digital ethics, and technology assurance.
  • Skilled at distilling complex AI risks into clear recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience managing risk indicators, policy implementation, and root cause analysis for incidents linked to emerging technologies.
  • Advantageous to hold industry-recognised certifications such as CISM, CRISC, CISA, CISSP, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement capabilities, with the ability to influence at the senior management level.
Why This Role Matters

As AI becomes increasingly embedded across digital platforms, this role ensures that innovation is matched by control, transparency, and accountability. You will play a key role in safeguarding the organisation’s reputation, decision-making integrity, and operational resilience in a rapidly evolving risk environment.
