Job summary

NTU, hosted by AISG, seeks an AI Engineer to design, build, and scale data infrastructure powering LLM training, fine-tuning, evaluation and retrieval-augmented generation. You will shape data architecture, pipelines, and governance across multi-cloud environments, collaborating with researchers and engineers.

You will implement scalable data stacks, automate transfers, monitor costs, and contribute to internal tooling with Python/SQL.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
• 2–4 years of data infrastructure/platform or systems engineering experience.
• Experience operating production systems at scale.
• Strong knowledge of distributed data systems and storage technologies (object storage, data lakes, vector databases).
• Experience with data pipelining tools (Spark, Airflow, Ray, Dagster).
• Familiar with cloud structures (AWS Organizations, multi-account setups) and IaC (Terraform).
• Hands-on with containers/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) and managed compute/storage services.
• Proven ability to read and contribute to others' code; strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable data architecture for AI training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and RAG workloads.
• Define data tech stack and adopt tools to fit evolving needs.
• Build automation for data transfer, backup, and data cataloging/discovery.
• Develop data pipelines (batch/streaming) using Spark, Airflow, or similar.
• Govern IAM policies across cloud environments to enforce least-privilege access.
• Improve data access patterns for performance and cost efficiency.
• Develop analytics/dashboards to provide stakeholders visibility into usage and costs.
• Leverage AI tools to build internal tooling and enhance day-to-day operations.
