Our client is a global shipping and logistics company operating a fleet of over 100 vessels and serving more than 500 locations worldwide. The Manager for Agency Network Management will be responsible for selecting and managing shipping agencies within the company's global agency network, including subsidiaries and third-party agents. This role involves assisting with shipping-related investment projects in assigned regions and leading specific projects.
The Challenges
- Manage a portfolio of countries regarding agency corporate governance, performance management, and commercial activities.
- Handle corporate governance aspects such as board and management structure, ownership, control rights, CAPEX & OPEX management, and agency-principal negotiations.
- Collaborate with the Agency Finance Controller on financial matters, including reviewing financial performance, operating expenses, cash flow, dividends, and budget adherence.
- Plan and finalize annual budgets with input from agencies and HQ stakeholders, and monitor their execution.
- Assist in project management of M&A initiatives.
- Coordinate with various Business Units and stakeholders to enhance portfolio performance.
- Lead investigations, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and implement preventive measures.
- Contribute to transformation initiatives and strategic planning to improve agency efficiency.
- Maintain relationships and communication with local partners, ensuring good corporate governance in coordination with the Corporate Entity Management team.
- Manage detention/demurrage post-waivers, third-party billing, and container repair waivers.
- Travel may be required to represent the company in various locations.
What It Takes
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Corporate Law, Maritime Studies, or related fields; advanced degrees or certifications like ACCA are advantageous.
- Minimum of 3-5 years in corporate management roles.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with the container shipping industry is a plus.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
