Job Description
Performs assignments in several of the following manufacturing engineering functions:
- Automation Design for Manufacturability: Provide early and ongoing automation & manufacturing involvement to ensure new products are mechanically manufacturable and repeatable.
- Include machine DFM review, set up SOP document creation, and FAT/SAT automation line qualification standard.
- Product Engineering: Works through all phases of a product from concept, to repeat automation manufacturing, to end of life.
- Provides production support engineering with respect to sophisticated testing methods, procedures, and failure analysis. Includes Geometry Dimensional & Tolerance Analysis knowledge. Enables product design assembly via automation development.
- Process Engineering: Designs and develops complex processes to improve product quality and automation equipment efficiency.
- Includes machine/process parameter setup skills. Understands automation manufacturing processes such as glue dispense, laser welding, etching, active alignment, etc.
- Failure/Data Analysis/Validation: Plans, develops, and implements complex procedures for testing and evaluating new products.
- Specifies tests, compiles data, and recommends design changes and assembly standards. Utilizes FACAVR, DOE, and statistical analysis tools like Six Sigma and Monte Carlo principles.
- Warehouse Automation: Develops automation processes across all APAC distribution centers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (MSME, MSIE preferred), with 10+ years in automation engineering, including equipment design and manufacturing engineering.
- Experience with new product introduction and automation manufacturing operations.
- Proven knowledge of DFM review for automation equipment design.
- Technical expertise in automation engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of optics principles related to CCD cameras, lasers, and alignment fixtures.
- Understanding of adhesive dispensing, coil winding, sensing cameras, and lamination processes.
- Knowledge of pneumatics, servo motors, robots, PLC, and control systems.
- Ability to perform tolerance analysis at assembly and part levels.
- Knowledge of AI, machine learning, and automation visual inspection technologies.
- Understanding of GD&T principles, CAD experiences (X2, NX4), and statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, Six Sigma).
- Effective communication in a global environment and a passion for cost reduction, project management, and automation design.
- High work ethic and flexibility.
