Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts is seeking an Adjunct Lecturer for the Faculty of Art & Design. Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), University of the Arts Singapore, an esteemed arts institution, would like to invite professionals/educators with a multidisciplinary background across Fine Art, 3D Design, Design and Media, and Fashion Studies to apply for the position of Adjunct Lecturer at the Faculty of Art & Design.
Main Roles and Responsibilities
You will be required toteach and mentor students for one of the following module(s):
Art & Design Fundamentals - Studio (Diploma Studies) explores both 2D and 3D principles within a co-taught and collaborative studio environment. Support the development of foundational understanding in form, space, structure, composition, materiality, and visual language. Emphasise critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and perceptual awareness through hands-on projects that connect two- and three-dimensional approaches.
Art & Design Fundamentals - Drawing (Diploma Studies) explores drawing as a core component of Fine Art practice through hands-on engagement that emphasises both observational and expressive techniques. Develop foundational skills in line, tone, proportion, perspective, and composition while working with still life, the human figure, objects, and spatial environments. Emphasis is placed on critical observation, creative inquiry, and experimentation with various mediums.
Student-led Project and Design Studio (Degree Studies) applies fashion design methods and industry practices within an interdisciplinary studio, as well as guide teams through live client briefs and collaborative projects, supporting the translation of fashion and textile thinking into broader contexts— to wearable technologies, experiential environments, spatial narratives, service-led design, while fostering creative problem-solving across materiality, user experience, and communication.
Develop lesson plans, assessment descriptors, and teaching resources/materials
Supervise and assess students’ project work, provide constructive feedback and academic guidance
Track student progress, mentor students toward becoming adaptive, reflective designers
Contribute to curriculum development to enhance interdisciplinary learning
Perform administrative and academic duties as required, including marks tabulation, moderation, attendance monitoring, classroom management, and any other responsibilities assigned from time to time
Requirements
You should possess a minimum of a Master’s degree in Fine Art, Visual Art & Design, Fashion Design, or a related discipline, with a PhD being preferred.
You should have at least five years of relevant teaching and industry experience, demonstrating cross-disciplinary exposure. Additionally, you must have a proven ability to deliver hybrid teaching, both synchronously and asynchronously, and maintain a strong track record in research or professional practice.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, along with strong collaborative, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
You should also exhibit a positive, results-oriented approach to student engagement and learning, ensuring an effective and enriching educational experience for students.
