Job summary

Aster Chemicals and Energy Pte. Ltd. is seeking an OT Engineer on Jurong Island, Singapore, to support reliability, safety, and continuous improvement of the plant's OT and control systems.

The role focuses on upgrading critical automation systems (DCS, SIS, FGS) and lifecycle management while ensuring compliant, safe, and efficient operations. The ideal candidate has a degree in engineering and 5+ years in IT/OT with hands-on network and cybersecurity experience, plus familiarity with OT

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years IT/OT, industrial control systems, automation, or related engineering experience.
• Minimum 1 year hands-on experience with network infrastructure (switches, firewalls, and configuration).
• Proven experience implementing cybersecurity for process automation systems, industrial control systems, and OT networks.
• Hands-on experience in automation system engineering, project execution, and system implementation.
• Knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards; IEC 62443 certification is an advantage.
• Experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, or other manufacturing industries is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to manage priorities under tight timelines.

Responsibilities

• Support design, implementation, and enhancement of OT infrastructure, networks, and control system architectures.
• Administer OT system access, user profiles, and cybersecurity controls including AD, endpoint security, and patch management.
• Configure and troubleshoot OT network devices, including firewalls, switches, routers, OPC UA, Matrikon, and Kepware.
• Implement, maintain, and validate backup and recovery solutions for OT environments.
• Participate in cybersecurity risk assessments and ensure effective security controls.
• Provide technical support for OT, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
• Collaborate with OT Security, maintenance teams, vendors, and engineering stakeholders to resolve OT issues.
• Maintain documentation and manage MOC; drive continuous improvement.

About the Role

Join Aster as an OT Engineer, where you will support the reliability, safety, and continuous improvement of the plant's operational technology (OT) and control systems, under Instrumentation Department. In this role, you will be involved in the upgrade and enhancement of critical automation systems, including DCS, SIS, FGS, and other OT assets, while supporting their lifecycle management (OT infrastructure operations and renewal). You will also contribute to the execution of system improvement projects (MOCs) and provide ongoing technical support to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations in compliance with industry standards and best practices.

Job Responsibilities

• Support the design, implementation, and enhancement of OT infrastructure, networks, and control system architectures in accordance with project and operational requirements.
• Administer and manage OT system access, user profiles, and cybersecurity controls, including Active Directory, endpoint security, patch management, antivirus, and application whitelisting.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot OT network and communication devices, including firewalls, switches, routers, OPC UA, Matrikon, and Kepware systems.
• Implement, maintain, and validate backup and recovery solutions for OT environments, including physical and virtual platforms.
• Participate in cybersecurity risk assessments and ensure security controls, countermeasures, and monitoring solutions are effectively implemented and operating as intended.
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for OT, instrumentation, and control systems to ensure system reliability, performance, and stable plant operations.
• Collaborate closely with OT Security, maintenance teams, vendors, and cross-functional engineering stakeholders to support projects and resolve OT-related issues.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, records, and management of change (MOC) requirements while driving continuous improvement and optimization initiatives.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT/OT, industrial control systems, automation, or related engineering fields.
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and network configuration.
• Proven experience in implementing cybersecurity solutions for process automation systems, industrial control systems, and OT networks.
• Hands-on experience in automation system engineering, project execution, and system implementation.
• Knowledge of OT cybersecurity standards, engineering practices, and industry best practices; IEC 62443 certification is an advantage.
• Experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, chemical, or other manufacturing industries is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage priorities independently, perform under tight timelines, and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
