Job description

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure timely and accurate closing of accounts, including reconciliation of general ledger accounts.

2. Accounts Payable/Receivable:

  • Manage accounts payable, including verifying invoices, preparing payment vouchers, and processing payments.
  • Handle accounts receivable, including invoicing clients, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding receivables.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and maintain accurate records of financial transactions.

3. Billing and Collections:

  • Generate and review client invoices in accordance with the firm's billing guidelines.
  • Monitor and manage the collections process, including sending reminders and coordinating with clients for payment.
  • Address billing discrepancies and resolve any issues related to client accounts.

4. Compliance and Regulatory Requirements:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards, including GST and other statutory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit necessary regulatory filings and reports.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.

5. Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Prepare various financial reports and analysis as required by management.
  • Assist in cost control and efficiency improvement initiatives.

6. Support for Legal Practice:

  • Collaborate with legal teams to provide financial support and advice on client matters.
  • Assist in the management of client trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide financial information and reports to support case management and client engagements.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the management.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA) are advantageous.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with legal billing and trust account management is a plus.
  • Proficient in accounting software (Xero) and MS Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
